We have a fairly new fridge with a tight seal and it's taken them a while to be able to open it (they mastered the beer fridge long ago). As with anything new, it's a thrill a minute to open the doors and pull out whatever looks interesting. Yesterday, it was raisins for Trent and a frozen serrano chili pepper for Trevor (I keep a zipper bag full in the freezer and he'd found the remanants of last Summer's bounty). I walk in and they're just munching away. I took a nibble of the serrano thinking maybe he got a tame one. Nope! After I asked if it was a little spicy, Trent had to try and he got a good bite of the seeds & pith and made a face but nobody was crying owie.

    That's funny!

Oh the things to look forward too! My girls already love climbing into the fridge when we open the door, it'll be interesting when they figure out how to open the door!

I can just see them gnawing on frozen keilbasa (there always seems to be a frozen ring in the freezer) and since it's from the local polish store, they'll be able to get to unwrap it pretty easily!

Too funny! Guess they are going to like spicy food!

Do they make baby proofing for the beer fridge? We have a beverage/beer fridge along with our big fridge and I can imagine the girls getting in there and getting into trouble.

They already like spicy food but to see him gnawing away on a hot pepper still surprised me.

There are a number of refrigerator locks on the market. I just did a search on Amazon and found plenty of options. Personally, I'm thinking of tying the two handles together (it's a SBS) with the loop latches that are the only childproof lock that still works for us. It'd be a huge hassle so I'm giving it a few days first to see if the wearing off of newness is enough. They pretty much stay out of the beer fridge now.
