Ok so I am 32 weeks and 4 days and I need to know what to do for insomnia. Last night I was either awake or dreaming about labor and delivery. I told the doctor today that I am sure that we will not make it out of July! I am due August 22nd, but they say if I go into labor after July 18th they won't stop it. Fine with me!!! LOL! I started steroid shots today. So I got a steroid shot in one butt cheek and a progesterone shot in the other butt cheek. I feel like a human pin cushion, but whatever works. Any help with the insomnia question would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Insomina was a huge problem for me. What helped was to lie there and picture a wonderful scene...my wedding day, my favorite time at the beach, a great memory from our honeymoon...and replay that in my mind over and over. For some reason, it would help me drift off.

At that stage, I was catnapping at night in between potty breaks and insomnia. :hug99:

Molly, I'm sorry you are dealing with insomnia. :hug99: I had to deal with that too, and like Michelle said, I did alot of catnaps. :hug99: I hope you get some rest soon.

I had horrible insomnia during my second trimester. I didn't sleep for days at a time. It was awful. My OB prescribed me Ambien. I've taken it a few times and it helped get me over the insomnia slump and get back into my normal sleeping routine. Just a thought!

I've been having nights like this as well.

I think my problem is the restless leg syndrome, and other nights I just can't get confortable. Then, I usually have the zillion potty breaks that disturb my sleep. The vivid dreams don't help either, lol!!!

I'm not complaining at all, this is all completely worth it. It's really no big deal for me...but I had to let you know you're NOT alone! Pregnancy does strange stuff to the body, lol!

Im so sorry! :hug99: Insomnia is the worst! I struggled with it as well. My Dr also prescibed Ambien and it was my miracle drug. It was the only way I was able to get any sleep at all. GL!!

I've had insomnia off and on most of my life (oddly enough less with this pregnancy than usual!) I usually try to practice my relaxation techniques: deep breathing, deliberate relaxation of muscles. Happy memories are always nice, too. If it doesn't put me to sleep, at least I get pretty good rest anyway. I'm skeptical of that advice that says to get up and read or something like that--I just wind up staying up later sleeping and with kids in the house I can't count on being able to rest later. I figure I better get what rest I can, even if I'm not technically sleeping.

I have had insomnia alot during my second trimester... I'm wide awake at night but want to sleep during the day. I try to nap whenever I can.

During my last (singleton) pregnancy, I had this problem during my third trimester. I really think that it was my body starting to adjust me to being up at crazy times and just catching naps here and there. I wonder if it is just starting earlier now b/c I have 2 cooking in there?

I used Benadryl or Ambien. I had RLS too and that sucked. No sleep meds help w/ restless legs. yuk!

don't want drugs? warm baths, lavender, meditation, ear plugs, sleep mask.

and my best advice...... don't worry about L&D so much. My L&D was MUCH easier than my twin pregnancy.

okay, I just looked at your signature and you've had losses. I"m so sorry. Your fears are much more understandable. Have you read Pregnancy after Loss? That book is very helpful!

    I've always had sleeping problems.
With this pregnancy benedryl and a huge mug of warm chai with honey and milk has helped.

insomnia was also a problem for me during my twin pregnancy!!!!!! I watched all kinds of crazy tv shows during that time!! and have barely watched any tv at all since the girls arrived!! plus I also had crazy dreams when I did manage to fall asleep - those dreams that wake you up scared to death!
