Well the little ones had their eyes tested today and for once we managed to see someone who had the title of Dr. who didnt say something was wrong with my kids.

    It all went well.

Their eyes should be between +2 and +3. Thomas was +4.5 which apparently means he will likely not need glasses until he is 40. Elizabeth on the other hand was +.75 which he said could means she is on the path to being nearsighted when she is a teenager.

We go back again when they are 3 just for a normal eye exam.

To me this was great great news. He also said that Elizabeth has almost 0 pigment in her eyes and they will stay blue for sure. He said Thomas was a little more undecided but most likely he would be blue as well.

    YEAH!

If you guys have not taken part in this program, you really should. It is amazing and free.

Wow, I've never even heard of that program. Did someone recommend that you take the babies?

Is it for everyone, sort of like early intervention? Or do you have to qualify somehow? Did you have to do anything besides call and make an appointment?

Glad to know your little ones have great vision!

I actually read about it when I was pregnant and then again here on TS from a mommy who actually works with the program.

It is free to everyone and all you do is call them up and say you want to make an infantsee appointment.

    It is awesome.

I feel so much better knowing that their eyes are good!

I believe it's available to everyone. It's specifically set up for infants between 6 months and 1 year to help detect eye problems early.

Here's their website: InfantSee There's even an area on the website to locate an eye dr. near you :)

This is a GREAT program. I wish I had known about it with my son. He had cancer in his left eye (retinoblastoma) and we found it late. He lost his left eye and I always wish we had known about infantsee. They could have caught it soooo much sooner. Definitely take advantage of this program. It's FREE!! And who wouldn't take half an hour of their day which may just give you information about your childrens eyes or could save a life.
