I hear a lot of talk about the weight limit but never heard of a length limit. Nathan was 18.9 lbs; 26 1/4" and Makenna was 15.9 lbs and 26" at their 6 mo appt. I went online that night to confirm the weight limits of our carriers and was more than surprised to find out our Graco had a 26" length limit. We had to make the switch about a month earlier than I planned. Am I the only one who didn't know there was a length limit?

I read the entire manual cover to cover before the girls were born. Thanks to bedrest. Our Graco's had a 29 in. 20 pound limit.

29 in was our limit too (Gracos) but I moved mine before because it seemed like their legs were hitting the back of the seat and seemed like they were uncomfortable.

The length limit is definitely not very well known. There's lots of ladies here on TS who mention that their kids are still in infant carseats and then realize they grew out a long time ago when someone mentions the length limit. My girls were nowhere near the weight limit when we moved out of carseats due to their height. I see babies all over town with their feet hanging way out of the infant carseat who obviously are ready for a convertible. You're definitely not the only one. :)

It really depends on the carseat, my Combis have a 29 inch length limit, which neither of my babies has exceeded, however, their legs do hang out over the edge of the carseat. They still seem very comfortable and their heads are nowhere near the top of the carseat so they are still very safe. I plan to keep my babies in the infant seats until they exceed the weight or height requirements, or until they are uncomfortable, regardless of whether their feet stick out. They are comfortable in the seats, they are safe, and it is a heck of alot easier with the infant carriers than without, I dread the day we move to convertibles, which I'm sure will be soon for my chubby DS.

I believe my DS is outgrowing his seat due to height. I didn't really think it would be an issue so soon when I chose them. In hindsight I should have gotten seats that could have last longer.

I moved Addyson at 5 months because her feet were hanging over and she was able to sit up. To me, it was much easier to carry her and put her in a cart with a cover and blanket then to carry that heavy infant seat. JMO.
