I was all ready to purchase the Chicco Key Fit infant car seats today. Did all the research, asked friends what they thought and all was a go. They seemed to be one of the few that would go down to 4 lbs - just in case. So we found out today they have been recalled - grrr. So which ones did you purchase and why? Thanks momas!

We had the Graco Snugride. Both of mine came home from the NICU in them and one was 4 lb. 2 oz and one was 5 lbs. 1 oz.

We also had the Graco Snugrides. My girls were both in the NICU for 10 weeks, but were both over 5lbs by the time they came home. I have no complaints about them, but my girls absolutely hated them. I have nothing to compare them too though...

We had the Snugride. Sierra left the hospital at 3 lbs 11 oz and was fine in it. With little babies that have been in the nursery, they do a carseat test before discharging them from the hospital. Basically, they monitor their breathing for an hour in the carseat to make sure they do well. If they don't pass, then you have to rent a car bed for something like that.

Ditto on the Graco Snugrides. They are light-weight, snap into my Snap and Go stroller and seemed to be the most recommended by mothers here on TS! I know that the instructor of our car seat safety class really likes the Chicco Key Fit...too bad they were recalled?!!

These are the ones that we are going to get as soon as they are restocked after the recall. I have looked at a bunch this time because with our first set of twins, the infant seats we got were too big for them. They were 5.0 & 5.2 pounds, but they were 17.5 and 18.5 pounds....alot of the infant seats require that the babies are at least 19 inches long so we don't want to run into this problem again. The snugrides don't have a low enough strap setting on them for short babies. We had gotten some evenflo ones the first time not even thinking that they would be too big, but they were. There was a gap between their shoulders and the height of the straps so the car seat tech said we needed to rent car beds until they were big enough for those other seats. Well, about two days using the carbeds and that was enough, they are a pain, so i went in search of different seats and found another evenflo model that had lower straps that fit them much better. I was looking at some seats at walmart the other day just to see and they had an evenflo one there that had nice low straps, but right on the front of the box, it said minimum 19 inches long, so i didn't get them. I am holding out for the Chiccos. The recall wasn't major, it was something on the base and it only affected seats made within a 3 week time frame, but alot of stores (like BRU) have pulled them all anyway. I am going to keep checking with my BRU store by phone or some places have them available online that were not affected by the recall. :winking0009:

Oh and our first set went down to 4.7 and 4.13 by the time we left the hospital so that was another issue with a carseat that started at 5 pounds.

We have the evenflo embrace. They also snap in the double snap and go.

I'm same as marisa55. Had one Graco snugride for numero uno son and will get another for my twins. Didn't use the snap n go with my first, but I'm looking forward to it with the twins! It is definitely the smallest thing out there for twinfant strollers! Good luck.

We have the Britax infant models and then we graduated our other baby to the roundabout. These are great carseats (a bit pricey), last forever, and score very high on the crash testing. They sell them at Target as well as online.

We had Graco Snugrides. We did rent a carbed because they came home under 5 pounds, it was $26/month, we had it for like 2 weeks. Lily came home one week, Grace the next, and when Grace came home Lily had already gone over 5 pounds and could go in her Snugride.

Mine came home at 4.13 and 5.15 They were both 18" or shorter.

They fit in the snugrides with no issues. They passed the car seat challenge with flying colors.

We will have to see how our Evenflo Discovery seats work out. We got those because I am partially disabled and those are the easiest ones for me to lift and maneuver.

graco snugrides and peg perego car seats tend to get the highest ratings in terms of safety adn ease of use and stuff like that so i highly recommend them. unfortunately the peg peregos (i didn't check on the gracos) don't play nicely with the double snap 'n go stroller. the good thing about these two car seats is that they do not require you to use the base so you can easily change them from one car to the other or one seat to the other in your car. also, i believe the snugride fits up to 25 lbs now or maybe even more. i ended up going with last year's model of the peg perego car seat because a: it was less expensive b: it does fit into the snap 'n go even though officially the company says it does not and c: the side impact protection which i think is crucial for twins since the car seat obviously cannot be in the center seat of the car.

    good luck!

We bought two Graco Snugrides. They got overall good reviews and for me the big seller was that they fit into the double snap-n-go stroller that I had bought. I loved them and my boys fit comfortably in them until they were almost 8 months and then they started getting a little snug so we switched them to their convertable carseats. Looking back I am really glad that I didn't buy the super expensive ones that I wanted to get, they aren't in them for long enough to spend that kind of money on.

We also bought the Graco Snugrides. I had a snugride for my son and loved it. We used it until he was 9 months old before upgrading to the Britax Boulevard, although he could have stayed in it until he was almost a year. I hope to get as much mileage out of the snugrides for the girls! Ditto the Double SNG being a plus!

Did anyone use the Graco SafeRides? You can use them rear or front facing and they go up to a good weight. They also fit in the Snap & Go (I had an employee at a baby store show me that they do work with the Snap & Go).

We have the Graco SafeSeat ~ and love them. We use them w/ the Graco Quattro Duo Stroller.
I don't think the SafeSeat works w/ the Snap n Go though. We got the Snap & Go as a gift, but returned it since it wouldnt work w/ the SafeSeat?

I think we are going to go with the Graco SafeSeat - they seem to be pretty much the same as the SnugRide but go up to 30lbs vs 22lbs. I still need to go and play with them as someone had mentioned that the handles can be a pain to raise and lower. I also need to check and see if they work with the SNG as that is my other concern.

Thanks everyone for the great info I think I am all set to buy our carseats. You ladies are SO great!!

Tamara, I had heard the same about the Safe Seat not fitting into the Snap & Go so I had one of the baby store employee put them together for me (the floor models). They seemed to work fine.

We bought the Graco Snugrides - we loved them. They also both fit perfectly in the stroller. Now that we have them in convertible car seats, we have the Marathon Britax. Love these too. :D
