Infant Car Seats

I need to purchase new carseats for the twins and was curious how long everyone else had their twins in the infant carriers before switching to the convertible seats. My babes have already outgrown the infant carseats (they're 4 months old) and was unsure if I should just purchase a larger infant seat or switch over to the convertible kind.

Our infant seats have a limit of 22 pounds and 29 inches. The girls are almost 10 months old and are still in them. I am planning to switch them either this week or next week - but not because they have reached the limit - they are just to heavy for me to carry and the girls want to be sitting up more in the car.

Have your babies outgrown the seat by weight or height? The reason I ask is, if it is by height, don't go by the inches on the side of the seat. A RFing seat is ourgrown when the babies head is one inch from the top of the carseat shell.

If the babies have indeed outgrown their infant seats. I would recommend a convertable seat (one that Rear-faces as well as Forward facing) There is no reason for you to by another infant seat.

My personal favorite Seats are Britax seats. But if they are not in your budget, there are a few others to consider. The Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe, is a great seat, actually made by Britax for only $140. ( I know a place where you can get marathons for $220 + exact shipping)

    I will continue later :D
    I hope I helped a bit

Our infant seats had a limit of 22 pounds and 29 inches, so my girls could still be in them (although Lily may have gone by the 29 inches now). But they just got too darn heavy to carry in the infant seat, so we switched to the convertibles around 10 months.

My seats are 22lbs and 29inches also, and the twins are still in them (at almost 11 months). I have had the convertibles since Christmas, but just out of convenience I have kept them in their infant carriers. They may be heavy, but it is so much easy to carry one in my arm and the other in the carrier, that way I can put the carrier down to open a door and such.

We just outgrew our infant carriers due to height a few weeks ago and went with the Marathon, they can be in those until 65 lbs. so they should last a long while.

My two just switched to a convertible seat at 7 months. They were just about at the weight limit, 22 lbs. I got the Graco Comfort Sport Metropolitan; 2 Britax wouldn't fit side by side in my truck, with my son's seat there too. :(

My chunky monkey Jack out grew his infant at about 4 1/2 months old. We just moved him to a convertible seat but its rear facing. Hannah is still in her infant seat. We are getting ready to move her up to a convertible seat even though she hasn't out grown the infant seat.

Our girls are still in their infant carriers. We plan on buying seats this month and switching them over next month.

Mine were almost 11 months when we switched them. I think Meghan still fits in the weight category! She sits in the seat now when it is out waiting for her baby brother.

We plan on buy our new seats within the next month. My girls are still in their carriers only because of convenience for me to get both of them into the car in the mornings.

I let them go past the height requirements but once they past the weight requirements I went with the new convertible seats. Mine were 11 months.
