Induction

I am 38 weeks this Friday and I am being induced.. I was wondeiing if any of you have been induced, and if so how did it go? I a bit nervous and would almost prefer the whole movies omg I am in labor moment.... but I am thankful that I have been able to keep them in for so long!! They are measuring only about 5 lbs 2oz today so I am hoping that they are a it bigger since there is a margin of error with the U/S....

 

I have never been induced, it seems like each time they scheduled an induction, the day before I went into labor! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I am so excited for you!! The day before my scheduled c section with my twins, the ultrasound showed that my baby A weighed in the 4 pound range she was 6 pounds 9 ounces so in our case the ultrasound was a good bit off.

I was induced both times, though with my first child I did not end up needing Pitocin, just had Cytotec put on my cervix and that was enough to get me going and I delivered about 12 hours later. With my twins I was induced just before 37 weeks due to some issues that arose and everything went great. I did have Pitocin and it did make the contractions more intense than during my first labor and they were coming right on top of each other. I got an epidural at about 6-7cm, and was at 10 and ready to push within 30 minutes! (after only progressing about 1cm every couple hours before that, though I'd started at 3-4cm that morning). All said and done, it was less than 8 hours and went very smoothly. The only thing I would change if I did it again would be getting the epidural earlier. My twins were 5lbs 8oz and 5lbs 3oz, pretty close to my last u/s measurements.

I was already in PTL when I was sent to the hospital (just shy of 36weeks) to be induced. I had protien in my urine and slightly elevated BP and I was dilated to a four already.
They broke baby A's water, started me on pitocin and then put in the epideral-things progressed rather quickly and it was all said and done with in 4 hours. Very easy delivery compared to my first one in which I was not induced.

So quick birthstory....

Went to the highrisk ob on Thursday afternoon. Babies looked great, no more dialation but Willa had only 2 cm of fluid around her. So they said ok you can go home and get our things we are going to go have babies.

I was 34w2 days.

So checked into the hospital about 5pm, they started "ripening" my cervix with a pill. Did 2 doses of that and by 4 am I was thin but still just 1. So at 5 the OB came in and broke Willas water and put the monitor on her head as well as an internal monitor for contractions because I couldn't lay on my back so the monitor on my belly wasn't picking anything up.

So they checked me again at 8 still just 2 cm and HURTING so got my epi and BAM ready to push at 10! Took me to the OR and got me on the skinniest table known to man, at 10:15 I started to push. Pushed a total of 8 1/2 times with Willa and out she came, then had to wait a minute because I stopped contracting or at least thats what they tell me I couldn't feel a thing, then pushed 6 times and out came Wyatt. No cutting no tearing nothing. I was if I may say a super star LOL

now this was my second delivery so if this is your first it may go a bit longer but I was pleased with mine. Good luck! I find reruns of the Golden Girls helps ease the pain of early labor LOL...
