Inducing labor on my own???

Okay...at the risk of sounding stupid, I am not feeling the babies move as much lately. We do have an OB appt tomorrow evening & the OB says we may discuss induction during our appt & he was talking about possibly sending us for a NST this week at some point, but I am sooo huge & uncomfortable & almost 37 weeks...should I try to induce labor on my own...pineapple, sex, etc.?

Sex at this point is almost funny to think about since I was measuring 44 weeks 2 appts ago...the ob even said he was stopping measuring me anymore...LOL! I know my dh would be happy about sex though since I have been too nervous to do much for quite awhile...sorry if TMI!!

I'm still working & really don't want to go tomorrow since my co-workers were all saying Friday when we left "No offense, but hope we don't see you Tuesday."

Anyone want to share any experiences?

I should add that I am 2 cm dilated & 50% effaced as of last appt last Wed & they are both head down.

At 35 weeks I was 3 cm and 80% effaced. I was done. I was so sick of being pregnant. It got to the point that at every appt, I sectretly hoped something wasn't quite right so I could just have them. My doctor had said at 35 weeks he wouldn't stop me so hubby and I decided we would see what we could do on our own. We had been given the no sex rule at 21 weeks, we ended that, we took 2 seperate very long drives on bumpy dirt roads in DH's F350 diesel truck. I ate pineapple. I started drinking caffeine again. Anything I could think of, we tried. The next week at 36 weeks, same story, 3 cms. We continued trying but nothing worked. In hindsight, it probably wasn't the greatest idea, but I just didn't care anymore.I was induced at 38 weeks. I worked full time the Friday before I deliverd the girls on a Monday. I truely believe that my girls were so comfortable, I would still be pregnant if he hadn't induced. From personal experience, I don't think that anything you will do will bring on labor unless they are truely ready to come.

to you for making it this far. You are so miserable, but just remember, you are about to meet your little ones, and it will be so wonderful if you get to take them home with you. Plus, you will look back and miss being pregnant. No, I'm not crazy. When people told me that I thought they were nuts, but I am starting to miss it. I truely hope that next time, I can have twins again.

Sounds like you are ready - I say don't go into work tomorrow; can't you take a sick day or personal day or I'M WAY TOO PREGANT TO COME TO WORK ANYMORE!!" day?

I'm barely 30 weeks and wondering how i'm going to haul myself around in a few more weeks.....can't imagine being that far!

Well, I will be going to work tomorrow unless something happens tonight. I work in a school district & I actually just switched to a new one this year. I only have 12 sick days to use for my maternity leave & the rest of my 10 week leave is docked pay. Thousands of dollars...every day makes a difference, kwim? I'll see what my doc says at my OB appt tomorrow evening about working though. He's always said it's up to me when to stop. I'd rather use my 10 weeks with the babies than before they are here, kwim?

 

I so understand how you feel! I tried so hard to induce labor with my ds. Like the pp's said, I ate all the stuff people say causes it, I had sex, went on long walks yada-yada. There was no way that kid was coming out. I was finally induced. Then again, I wasn't dilated, effaced..nothing. I sure hope your little ones decide to make a debut soon! It sounds like you've done a great job cooking them.
