Because of my girls' reflux we have started inclining their crib mattresses a bit. We just started putting them in their own room last night (both in one crib) and both times when we checked on them they had slid down to the bottom and turned to the side. I'm wondering if they will get used to the incline and not slide down as much, or at least maybe not turn to the side? Have any of you that incline crib mattresses found that your babies get used to the incline? If so, how long did it take? I just ordered the breathable bumpers because I'm afraid they will get their faces in the other bumper when they turn sideways, but at the same time I don't want to go without a bumper and have their limbs hanging out of the crib. I prefer to keep any extra blankets or positioners out of the crib. I don't think one DD would do well with the positioners anyway because she likes her arms in and swaddled.

Would it help to put them in their own cribs the "long way" with the mattress inclined? I was just thinking it would require a lot more squirming to actually reach the bottom? [IMG] They don't roll at all yet.

    Thanks!!

If they aren't rolling yet, you can put them in a sleep positioner, this is how I kept mine from ending up at the bottom of the crib! The breathable bumpers are great, by the way, no more stuck limbs! [IMG]

we used a incline positioner for awhile with DS and he was swaddled and did fine. he owuld slide down when he started to wake up and fuss a bit, but not too bad. we've now just elevated one end of hte crib. we switched DD out to her own crib at that point (about your kids age)- they were pretty mobile for non-rollers, and DD would end up kicking DS in the head- poor fella!
they are in there the "long" way now and move a bit, but not too bad. they were getting too tall to be in there the width direction (is that what you mean??!)

I was never comfortable with the inclined mattress because when we first did it, I thought they slid too much too and I think we barely inclined it. That is why our boys slept in car seat when they were born but at 4 months we had to put them in thier crib. We did not incline it at 4 months because they were doing much better. I dont have an answer but just wanted to add that our boys slid also.

If you roll a receiving blanket up really tightly, you can pin it to the mattress in a u shape so that their feet are at the bottom of the u. That often keeps them from sliding.

Thats what I was going to recommend.

Tucking a rolled receiving blanket on either side will also help stop them from turning sideways. We found it helped.
