Incision pain when getting up from lying down

I had a c-section with the twins over 10 weeks ago. It was an up and down through the skin and muscles and transverse on my uterus. 4 weeks and 6 weeks after I had two infections that cleared with antibiotics. I was off them by week 7. While I was on the abx, I didn't experience any pain after the infection was cleared. Then at 7 weeks I noticed pain in the muscles surrounding the incision, but the pain was only there if I had been lying down to sleep on my back or sides. Then when I would get up, roll out of bed the area surrounding the incision would just burn and hurt. It's still happening. Once I get up and start moving I don't notice the pain much at all. I did have an ultrasound last Wednesday, but they said they would only call if something was up. I haven't heard from them. I suppose they could still call since it's just been 8 days and all images go to another city to be looked at.

Anyways has anyone experienced this? If so, did you find out what was causing the pain? And did it eventually go away? My Dr. doesn't think it's another infection. I don't either since I haven't had a fever or any of the symptoms I had with the other infections.

i had a c/s 7 weeks ago and i had an infection at 2 wks, was on antibiotics for 2 weeks, and went back for my 6 wk checkup last week and had another infection, a little abcess type that my doc drained and i'm on antibiotics for another 2 weeks again. my whole pelvic area and incisional area have been more sore than usual starting about 5-6 wks out (but it wasnt related to the abcess). the muscles are definitely sore when getting up from a lying position and when walking a lot. i dont really have any advice for you, except to let you know that someone else is having similar issues. hope you feel better soon!

I'm not sure what the cause of the pain would be, I'm guessing just the fact that it was an incision site may be it. I had the pain you are describing for a good six months after their birth. It would only be first thing in the morning, after lying still all night and not having to bend or twist. Once I got up and moving it went away. I hope it goes away for you sooner. :hug99:

I'm thinking that the healing you're going through and possibly some pulling from scar tissue may be what's causing the pain.

My scar still itches, has painful twinges and sometimes just plain hurts and it's been just over 2 years. I think it's pretty normal.

I had twin girls in sept 2007 first one was vaginal second one was c section. my girls were in the nicu for the first 5 weeks so i spent a lot of time travelling to the hosptial and got an infection as well. I was in a lot of pain for the first fwe weeks and even after the infection was gone. moving around was painful if i was doing too much, or getting up from lying down. your using a lot of muscles that have been cut so you have to rebuild them. and using them to much by getting up on your own might be pushing it to hard.
I got help from someone whenever i could for the first couple months or tried to roll out of bed or off the couch instead. Try to take it easy as much as you can with lifting getting up, go easy on your muscles. I had the pain in my incision when id get up or do to much till about 9 months, i talked to my doctor about it several times cuz the pain would sometimes get really bad, but in the end she just kept telling me to wait a little longer see if it goes away and finally it started getting to be less often that I would feel the pain.

I thought it was something seriously wrong as well but it slowly healed. maybe its the way some peoples bodies react to the c section and healing or maybe its the way they do it.
My best Advice is to try not to over use those muscles and take it easy when you can.

I had a c-section with the twins over 10 weeks ago. It was an up and down through the skin and muscles and transverse on my uterus.

It may be your incision too...yours is vertical(up/down) not horizontal (sideways across the lower abdomen) so that may make a difference.

I know I had an infection afterwards and my wound was slow to heal. It took a good 4 months before I started not noticing the "pain" or occasional pulling feeling in the c-section area as much.

I had a c-section 13 weeks ago - bikini cut. But I also have the same pain you describe. It is always when I sleep flat on my back. The past few days I have fallen asleep with a pillow laying on my abdomen, putting pressure on it. This seems to help.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You have all been so helpful sharing your stories and all. Not that I want anyone to have this pain, but I'm sure glad there are other women dealing/or dealt with this problem. I'll give it some more time to heal and see how I'm doing before I check in with my OB again. Again thank you for sharing your personal stories.
