i saw this adorable fish tank idea on pinterest (LOL) where you threw a marble in everytime you caught your kids 'being good.'
id like to do something like this to really positvely enforce when they share, put their things away, etc.
i dont want it to be a marble in a fishtank. i'd like to make it relatively 'quick' to fill up but not too quick if that makes sense?

any ideas? i was going to use cotton balls to fill whatever it is that needs filling.

I like the marble idea. Something confirming about the plunk they would make when you drop them in! you could even get different size marbles for different levels of 'good'. Or if both are good at the same time then a BIG marble.
I agree.. something smaller than a fish tank..maybe a vase.

if you use cotton balls could you find them different colors so they are pretty when 'done'?

I'm big about recycling, so I'd probably use like a spaghetti sauce jar, or coffee canister or something like that. You can leave it plain or decorate it/paint it :)

We've been using a Mason jar - a quart size for canning. Any time my girls do something great or go above expectations they get to pick their marble (that's the best part for them - choosing the color) and when it's full they pick what we do for an entire weekend day. There have been quite a few trips to the dinosaur museum lately.

We used a jam jar and a bunch of plastic beads. Even then it took a long time to fill!

    Cute idea!

Funny side note, on the drive home from school the kids woulf often tell me that they got 'copying good.' :umm: Turns out it was "Caught being good" but they said it so fast...

    What a great idea!!!!!

I've only just discovered Pinterest - awesome for ideas, but easy to get myself distracted lol

Anyway, just wondering what ages others have found this works for?

I have 2y10m twin girls, 7dd & 12ds. I was thinking that could be adapted for the older 2 as well as trying it on the younger 2 with something a lot bigger so that the jars fill up quicker and they would get the concept of the jar, therefore it would hopefully be an incentive. Maybe large colored craft pom poms in a coffee jar?

We did something like that when the girls were around 2 and potty training. They would get a marble/bead in their jar and they really liked it. They still have the jars, but they use them to play with now.
