Well - we made it to 34 weeks (or so we thought).

Let's start at the very beginning:

Yesterday at work I ate their frito pie (normally yummy). I ran some errands and felt bad the rest of the day. Last night I threw up and contracted the rest of the night. I just thought the muscles from throwing up caused me to contract - no worries. I woke up this morning for my LAST day of work and there was some blood. I felt fine, and called just to be on the safe side and they wanted me to come on in to be checked.

We got to the hospital and she hooked me up and the nurse examined me and I was 4 cm. dialated. Just a week and a half ago I was nothing! I was contracting regurlary (didn't feel it) and so they admitted me and at that point they were assuming that I was going to be having these boys today!

The hospital estimated that I was 33w and 5days, but my doctors office and my calculations say I am 34 weeks. Dr. Nett is airing on the side of 33w's so she gave me some meds to stop contractions and she gave me a steriod shot to help mature their lungs. We then had an ultrasound to check their weights and position and both are still head down and Michael weighs 4lb.3oz. and Jeremiah weighs 4lbs. 11 oz. Dr. Nett said that Michael might be larger, because they had a hard time measuring his head because he is so low. She said they would like Baby A (Which is Michael) to be bigger then Baby B for delivery.

We have to stay in here at least over night. I get another steriod shot in the morning and if the contractions go away and I am not any more dialated then I THINK we can go home. IF things continue to progress, then after 24 hours of this next steriod shot it looks like these boys will make their arrival.

In case they do come within the next few days, the NeoNatal Specialist came to talk to us about what to expect. The main concern will be their breathing and learning to suck and swallow. Other then that he said there should be no long term effects and we should expect them to be in the NICU 2-3 weeks. If we can hold off another week or two he said we have a high chance of them coming home with us. Hopefully, that will be the plan.

Well, I am going to get some rest and try to sleep in this tiny bed - I am used to all my space and pillows!

That's great that they gave you the steroid shots...It'll make a huge difference if the babies come this early. Get some sleep tonight...Keep those babies baking! Each day really counts at this point!! GOOD LUCK!!!! :hug99:

Hope you are still hanging in there..... You experience was exactly mine over Friday.....34 +2 weeks pregnant - woke up feeling a little off - and then started projectile vomiting (even through my nose - nice !!).... contractions started.... 4:10 and mild and like you - couldn't feel them much at all....

Lots of medicine / steroid injection - 3 hour journey in the ambulance to our nearest level 3 maternity unit in Canberra (arrrggghhh) and an overnight stay....

All settled now and back home - they were thinking that i caught a virus and being so dehydrated from the vomit and diarrhoea it made my uterus irritable.

So I will be thinking of you and sending you as much love and support and lets hope we can keep these gorgeous little bundles in that wee bit longer so they can come home with us.

Good luck and keep us posted.
