Girls got their six month shots yesterday...yeah behind, but I wanted it this way. I was starting to think they were not supposed to get them b/c it took 4 attempts to finally get them. We have to do it through the county since our insurance does not cover them. I went to take them Wed., when DH's foot got ran over by a car. Then we attempted to take them Thursday, but when we got there, we realized that we didn't grab their records. Then DH went to take them yesterday morning, but there were no parking spots at the clinic. We finally got them yesterday afternoon.

It is so hard to hear them cry in pain. I just hugged and hugged them. They seemed ok yesterday, but Carlie woke up crying this morning. Usually she a very happy baby in the morning. So I gave her Motrin, and a bottle. Then I got Claire up and she was a bit cranky. She also did not want to eat breakfast. She got her Motrin, and they are both sleeping now.

A friend gave me this tip and it worked with my boys. Anytime they are due for shots (we have chosen to spread them out) about an hour before the appt. I give them tylenol. Then the next day I give them tylenol every 4 hours until the time of their shots the previous day. So if they got their shots yesterday at 6:00 p.m. I will give it to them until 6:00 p.m. today. So far it has worked.

I agree with the Tylenol before hand, really helps.

Hope your hubby's foot is ok

They are sometimes really tough to go through, but I just think about how much better that is than getting the actual disease they are protecting against. Hopefully your little ones are back to themselves now. :hug99:

Shots are no fun! I hope your girls are doing better now. The Tylenol thing sounds like a good idea. I am going to try that for our next visit.

My girls had their 4 month shots yesterday too. I hate them. They were both in such good moods and smiling at the nurse and me. Then all of a sudden (when all they can see is my face) someone stabs them. I can't wait until the shot part is all over and done with.

I know what you mean, both times we have done their shots I could not hold the babies, the first time my dh came and held them while they did the shot, and then they handed the screaming baby to me. And, the second time my mom held the babies. It is so sad, they are all happy and smiles and then they get stabbed. And, for ours it was not once, but 3 shots each time. I have never to this day heard ds scream like that except when he gets those shots. It still makes me tear up. I actually cried at both appts, and during the first one I had to leave the room.
We have 6mnth shots in about 2wks, and again I will have to take dh, as I will need the support!
