OK, so what has been your experience with Imaginary Friends?

My boys are going to be 4 this month and they have an Imaginary Brother named Sean. They don't play with him but they do talk about him a lot. Right now they are making cards for him. Apparently he lives out of state and I'm not the brothers mother (something i should talk to DH about [IMG])

Anyway people that I know who do not have twins think it's most unusual for them to have an Imaginary Friend b/c they have said it's normally singletons or much younger siblings who make up friends...

I think it's hilarious. It's been going on for a few months now. I can only imagine what the teachers at school think.

    Any thoughts on Imaginary Friends/Brothers?

Isabel got Odi and Edi, which she found when DH was deployed, but eventhough he's back for a year now, Odi and Edi are still around. Odi apparently owns EVERYTHING (houses, gasstations, farms, does and knows EVERTHING as well. Edi seems to be the trouble maker, and got thrown in jail a few times, for burning down the farm and the house. LOL.

Isidra plays along with Odi and Edi occassionally, but not nearly as often as Isabel.

I think it is totally normal and I know that my kids imaginations are double trouble.

The stories two young minds will come up with!

Totally normal, and it may/may not last for quite some time!

Mine have imaginary dogs, Bito and Ha-Ha. They play with them and make up stories about them constantly. They also make up stories about their blankies or luveys.

They did an eval on the kids at school and one of the check off boxes was about imaginary friends. The teachers said they didn't have any so I said "I guess they aren't talking about Bito and Ha-ha. They said yes they talk about their dogs all the time. I had to tell the teacher we don't actually have any dogs.

This is so cute. I am looking forward to see what my twins make up, if anything. I also heard imaginary friends are normal and nothing to worry about. Have fun and enjoy this time. [IMG]

My 3yr old has one and his name is Freddy. His is green and apparently very small b/c if you ask to see Freddy he will pick him up from very low on the floor and cup his hands together to carry him.
Freddy goes to school sometimes on a big blue schoolbus. He doesnt have a Mommy and Daddy though, which I think is kinda sad [IMG]
He also mysteriously takes toys away from or bonks the twins on the head every once in awhile.
I love that he has an imaginary friend, I always wanted one when I was litte. [IMG]

We have Creaky the Bear Who Bites, Creaky the Bear's brother (also named Creaky) who is nice and warns us whne Creaky the Bear Who Bites is coming, and their sister Eaky, who is nice and plays hide and seek. We also have Charlie the Magical Baby Wolf Princess.

But my all time favorite... and I don't know if I can call Him imaginary, given our family's faith tradition... but my all time favorite is when Jesus shows up in our living room. He always seems to arrive when Daddy (not me, but Daddy) catches the girls jumping on the couch. "But Jesus is jumping on the couch!" Poor Daddy has to say, "Jesus can jump on the couch, but you go on time out."

No imaginary friends here yet, but they do adopt different personas on a daily basis (which I'm in trouble if I don't keep up with) and create whole imaginary stories around them. Lately they are either Scooby and Shaggy or Nigel and Elwood (my brother's pets). They come up with these elaborate trips they have to pack for and they create maps and checklists. I love how they each agrees in their imaginary worlds like : J: "Yah, Scoob the place where we're going camping has lots of snakes so we have to take this stick with us" (toilet paper roll). Me: "Here are your sleeping bags if you want to take those" N: "No mom we're sleeping in the cabin" J: "Yah mom".
I'm kind of out of the loop about it all, but I agree with you. This kind of imaginary play is hilarious.

My son had an imaginary friend for a while when he was around that age. His name was Consul and he looked like a cloud. He was around for a couple of years. I actually kind of miss him because I really think it helped my son be more creative and imaginative. He used to freak me out a little bit at times when talking about Consul and the doctor was even amazed by it, but now he's gone. Ever seen the movie "Drop Dead Fred" about imaginary friends?

My sister had imaginary friends. A whole slew of them actually. for several years, Jody was the bad one. Everything that went wrong in the house that a small child could be blamed for, Jody did! Then one day she got hit by a train and died. The other friends were less mischevious and some of there names were, White Headed Skinny, Red Headed Skinny, Blue Headed Skinny and my personal favorite, Horn Headed Skinny. [IMG]

    I love kids.

MY DD who is 4, not a twin just the big sister to twins, has a whole family!!!!!! It is amazing the things her "grandmothers" and "grandfathers" allow her to do!!!!!! And she keeps telling me about her family's house in town!!! I keep asking her when she is going to visit so I can have a break!!!! LOL!!!

My friend with 4 yr old twins, they have a "nice mommy" as opposed to my friend who is their "mean mommy!!" LOL! You know, the one who will not let them eat too many sweets, go to bed and do the right things!!!! LOL!
