VERY NORMAL!!! This is the time to take a shower or eat something. Turn off the monitor and set a timer for 20 min. and see how he is by then....

If he's still crying after 20 minutes you can go in and pat/put paci in....shhhh...stuff like that. Then leave the room and see if that helps. (don't pick him up yet!) If he doesn't calm down after a time and you can't handle it anymore you can pick him up and try again tomorrow. (and extend the time by 5 minutes or so.)

That is up to you...does he take a paci? If he was still crying after 20 minutes, I would go in there, give him a paci, or a pat on the back til he calmed down, and try again. It's really hard!!

 

he stopped crying after about 15 minutes and then fell asleep for about 30 minutes. thanks for all the helpful advice.
