I'm the mom, why can't they listen to me

One of my boys had baby acne pretty bad for the first month. Then it went away. Suddenly out of the blue it came back this week. I couldn't figure out why.

At the first month appointment the Dr and I talked about it. I had already changed the laundry detergent in the house to the everything free All and dryer sheets. There was some of the old stuff left but everyone knew to use the new stuff. The Dr had me also change out the lotions and soaps to everything free versions. We use Eucerin bath oil and lotion and vanicream for extreme dry skin. Everyone was told to do the same thing.

In my house Everyone includes me, my guy, my MIL, and a 21 year old niece.

It turns out that the niece took it upon herself to use the crappy laundry detergent on all her clothes again (she "Forgot" to use the other stuff) and to put "Baby lotion" on the boys faces because they were dry. MY BOYS DO NOT HAVE DRY SKIN. When I called her on it she said oops. My MIL had been putting lotion on his face as well to help it heal. It was so bad that his cheeks were red and the sores were starting to weep. I was ready to take him to urgent care about it.

Instead the weekend came around and I took over his care, NO LOTION. And now his cheeks are almost healed after just 36 hours of no lotion.

And all she could say was oops.

 

That is pretty annoying. Glad his cheeks are healed up now. Hope she doesn't do that again!

 

Glad he's healing but that would be really frustrating. I'm not sure what you can do except to stress to them again how important it is that he not be exposed to any perfumes or dyes. I hope they listen!

I'm glad you took over and his cheek improved. Have another discussion with MIL and niece, this is not right. I would be frustrated too.
