I would think if you went to the er/urgent care they would HAVE to test them if its needed. The labs just follow procedure, they are not doctors.

    Very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. Can you call Medicaid and explain the urgency of the situation?

Medicaid back pays. So try to get the test ask for a bill. Se if you can get away with 20 bucks and tell them you need a payment plan, or somthing. then when you do get the kiddos # you can forward to bill to Medicaid. Worth a shot. When my oldest was born I had NO coverage for her and she was lifeflighted $14,000 bill! Like I can pay that.

I have MA, and we havent had a problem getting them into the dr. They will send you a bill, but you just call and update insurance info after they get a card. I also got thier card around 3 weeks old. What state do you live in? I would just tell the hospital/clinic to bill you for it, and call after they get there cards. You should call your social worker and see what they say. That's crazy- it's not like thier Not covered, they just dont have a card/# yet. Good Luck!

I don't know about your state but they are covered under your card/number until they get their own number here. You would have to go to the lab that your card covers. Also like someone said they back bill so your babies should be seen regardless and they will just bill medicaid.

Exactly what I was going to say. I've never had any problems with it.

Also, as soon as I was released from the hospital I went to the Mediciad office (its called commonwealth here) and gave them the kids info, and their cards were mailed just a couple days later.

They should be able to put it through anyway. If anything they can do the work and bill you and you can resubmit it to Medicaid. That's what we did when we were on it when DH was laid off.

in your state do they give a second insurance card that is through a major insurance? Like here you have the option of picking medica, blue cross or healthpartners. If they do get the number off the back of your card and call it, they may issue you a temporary medical ID number. Or you can have them bill you and by the time you get the bill all you do is call them and have them submit it to your insurance, by that time you will have a ID number for your babies.

It's not your fault you don't have their numbers. They need their tests....get them done! You tell them they should know how medicaid works and they should not be giving you any problems.

I have medicaid and if someone would try to pull that card on me, I would say "tuff ****. Find a way to make it work!!!" How dare someone throw that back on you especially when you have twins. You have enough to worry about already.

    So there :p

Don't worry, it will all be okay and they will get covered. Just don't put up with the b/s.

they say the laws changed, an not covered under mom any more. *sigh* <_< I have been out of USA for over 12 yrs now and i only came back to have my babies here so i was really cutting it close just to get the medicaid the few months left before delivering them. I didnt realize how much a pain medicaid can be. Looks like i need to get in touch with my social worker monday morning.
As far as pre paying and getting reimbursed... i am not working and my 18 yr old son is paying for my hotel here and my airline tickets...food ect.. so i cant put more burden on him of course.

If nothing else works i guess i would have to get them to the hospital and make them do it... i just dread the long hours waiting.
