Ok so my girls are only 13 days old, still new and fresh to the world. The past 2 days they have been driving me crazy with feeding! A few days ago we bumped them up to 3oz. and they were doing great. Now all of a sudden, they are both turning their nose up at the bottle after 1-2oz. As soon as I pull them off to burp, they're done! They both fall asleep and no matter what I do they will not take the bottle back. I'm so concerned and frustrated. I strip them down to their diapers to make them uncomfortable, I change them (which they do not like LOL), I even sing and talk to them trying to keep them up, but to no avail. What am I doing wrong? Should I take them back to 2oz.? I'm just concerned they aren't eating enough to keep their weight up. Please help!

My twin girl used to do that ... she's still the biggest and she's the best sleeper (11 hour stretch), so I guess they'll eat when they're hungry. It was annoying though, I was always afraid she wouldn't eat enough, but I know better now. She's fine, it was short lived and she's now the biggest eater. She's still the sleepy one (during the night though).

I wish I could help; mine fall asleep at the breast no matter what; but then act like I'm starving them to death an hour later. I just posted about this, but at least I can sympathize with you if not offer any advise! [IMG]

As long as they are still eating then its ok. Babies go through growth spurts, sometimes want more, sometimes less. They will let you know if they are hungry, trust me [IMG]

My girls used to do the same thing and I would try not to burp them unless they were squirming. It helped!!! Good luck. I am sure they will let you know when they ae hungry!!!!

Sounds like a growth spurt to me. I wouldn't be too concerned.

They are still so new to the world... it is hard to figure out exactly what is right or wrong, or what to do...

If they are quitting after an ounce or two, then they are through. Go by what they do... they will let you know if they want more.

Hang in there!! Congrats on those babies!

Thanks everyone! It's good to know I'm not the only one going through this. This whole mommy thing is not easy! (Not that I thought it would be)
On a side note, what are some signs and symptoms of acid reflux in babies? Payton has done some projectile vomitting and I'm trying to gauge if it's a real problem or coincidence. It's not all the time, just once in a while, but again I'm concerned. Sorry to be a bother.

Signs of reflux are projectile vomiting, arching their back, crying when eating, overly fussy. If you are concerned call the ped. They can either prescribe meds or refer you to a GI and have an upper GI done

I could have written your message 6 months ago. Mine have always been inconsistent about their intake and don't take nearly what THEY (the books, ped., others) say they should. However, they are continuing to grow and are doing well. They are drinking anywhere from 20-25 oz now at almost 7 months and you can see at the bottom how much their weights were at 6 months. Mine didn't eat 3 oz until they were 2 months old. We also couldn't stop mid-feeding for anything. We wouldn't burp them until then end unless they pulled off the bottle.

Good luck . . . you have so many wonderful days ahead of you and so many long days. Many people told me that it would go by fast and at first it wasn't fast enough for me. Now I'm ready for things to slow down.
