Not really a twin related question here--other than the fact that I'm not ready for another set or even 1 for that matter. [IMG]Just wondering if anyone could shed some insight onto a birth control related question--I'm on the patch and have been for 9+ months post babies and a few years prior to having them(went off to get pregnant)--anyway, I've been having some brownish pink discharge for the past 2 days--I'm on the second patch of the month--and this is not normal for me. No other real pregnancy symptoms, so probably nothing but just a little concerned. Anyone have any experience with this type of discharge while on the patch???

I'm not on the patch, but I had some weird spotting and discharge (along with a few other hormonal-type symptoms -- increased appetite, headache, etc.) one month on the pill. I had been on the pill for months, but had just switched to a new kind, and got this in the middle of the second week. I was totally freaked! But I called my OB and she said that the pill can definitely sometimes cause pregnancy-like symptoms. I tested and it was negative. I'd say test, you might as well know. But most likely it's something caused by the patch.

I got pregnant with my girls while on the pill. I'd go ahead and test.

Have you used the patch continuously (skipping the "off" week) so you don't get a period? THat might cause intermittent bleeding. I did the patch for 8-9 months after my girls came along and hated it. I switched to the Nuvaring...I love it, but I can only "skip" my period for one month with it. I've tried doing 2 and I end up with spotty bleeding and a long period right in the middle of my cycle.

But, I would also test just to be sure.

Oddly enough I just had a weird thing happen with my patch too.
Yesterday I got up had coffee and felt ( tmi) fluid coming out of my vag- went to the bathroom and it was clear with some brn spotting in my undies~ oh no you don't!! I just had a baby 3 mos ago.
Well today it's more of a period, so I think I've put a patch on when I should be on my 1 week off.....at least that's what I'm telling myself. good luck! - however you want it to be.
take a test and remember " what's meant to be is meant to be" [IMG]P

It could be a little cyst that popped. I've had that where it's kinda pink-brownish and a bit watery and a doctor told me it possibly a little cyst. It happens when I ovulate sometimes too.

Just a thought. If in doubt, test.

I got pregnant while on the patch 2 years ago. Unfortunately the pregnancy ended at 8 weeks in a miscarriage. But I was using it correctly (or so I thought) and got pregnant. Apparently if any part of the patch is not totally attached to your skin it may not work. When I would shower a tiny stream of water would be able to go through the middle of the patch because it wasn't attached in the center.
I also was back on the patch this summer and was bleeding for months straight. I had to go off of it and now I'm back on it and it's working fine. I'm still skeptical about using it for birth control and also use a condom but if I got pregnant right now it wouldn't be unwanted.
I would take a test as you get closer to your period coming.

Sorry, but I gotta share this: LINK TO ARTICLE

    quote:

Some forms of contraception, specifically the intrauterine device (IUD), Norplant, and certain low-dose oral contraceptives, often do not prevent concepti on but prevent implantation of an already fertilized ovum. The result is an early abortion, the killing of an already conceived individual. Tragically, many women are not told this by their physicians, and therefore do not make an informed choice about which contraceptive to use." [1]

    quote:
In summary, according to multiple references throughout The Physician's Desk Reference, which articulate the research findings of all the birth control pill manufacturers, there are not one but three mechanisms of birth control pills:
    1. inhibiting ovulation (the primary mechanism),
    2. thickening the cervical mucus, thereby making it more difficult for sperm to travel to the egg, and
    3. thinning and shriveling the lining of the uterus to the point that it is unable or less able to facilitate the implantation of the newly fertilized egg.

The first two mechanisms are contraceptive. The third is abortive.

When a woman taking the Pill discovers she is pregnant (according to The Physician's Desk Reference's efficacy rate tables, this is 3 percent of pill-takers each year), it means that all three of these mechanisms have failed. The third mechanism sometimes fails in its role as backup, just as the first and second mechanisms sometimes fail. Each and every time the third mechanism succeeds, however, it causes an abortion.

    quote:
Typically, the new person attempts to implant at six days after conception. If implantation is unsuccessful, the child is flushed out of the womb in a miscarriage. When the miscarriage is the result of an environment created by a foreign device or chemical, it is in fact an abortion. This is true even if the mother does not intend it, and is not aware of it happening.
