Hello Twin Moms!! WELL, I'm supposed to bring my girls home in a few days. So I'm getting ready!! SO MUCH! SO much to do! Quick recap about me- we have identical girls- Ever and Scout. I was in the hospital on bedrest for 8 weeks! Went home- and then bang went into labor in 4 days- delievered at 32 weeks and 2 days. The girls are doing well, just practicing on coordination with their breathing and sucking skills. My body is still tired from everything I went through. But everyday gets better. I'm a little stressed right now because I had a day nanny but now she can't work for us because she has breast cancer! Terrible! So now, at this last minute state I'm trying to find day help for when I have to do stuff with my 2yr old daughter. We hired a night nanny as well, so that will help too, but not for when I have to do things during the day. I am very thankful that we are getting help, even though it's going to cost $$$. But my hubby is cool with it. We're both a little over whelmed by it all, so I pray all goes smoothly. In the mean time, these last few days I'm trying to rest, but it seems impossilbe becuase I'm pumping or just running around trying to get things ready! Anyway, I sound frantic, but, I'm really layed back. How did you all handle things... any tips? The girls are preemies and I want them to feed well! They are 4.8 and 4.14 right now. Anyone bring home little ones like this? How did it go for you? If you got this far, thanks for listening! Tina
Congrats your little girls! Sorry to hear about your day nanny...that is really sad. The extra help of the night nurse will soooo be worth the money, knowing what I know now I totally would have gotten one!! Thoese hours of sleep are going to be so helpful for you My girls were 4.5lbs and 5.10 when we brought them home (no NICU time) after 3 days. I struggled with pumping, but they ate formula great! Chloe, our little one, was a little bit slower at eating, but each day she got a little bit better & now she can out eat her sister Good luck & get some rest!
congrats on your babies! you will find the help is necessary, it will NOT make your life a breeze LOL i also had round the clock help for the first 6 weeks, and it is still all a blur. before i had the babies i used to wonder WHAT i would possibly do if someone ELSE was taking care of my babies 24-7 LOL NOT THE CASE you will find you are feeding babies for at LEAST 8 hours per day (not including night!!) and the extra set of hands is basic at first esp if you breastfeed. with a 2-year-old as well, i can only imagine. i pumped and formula fed the first 6 weeks as well, as the babies did not latch on until 4 and 6 weeks of age--but i was very committed to breastfeeding and stuck to it for 8 months. be sure to visit the breastfeeding forum for support, they were my lifeline! ummmm tips: be sure dh gets time with the girls as well (great names, btw), since he will be "sharing" not only with you and the nanny, but with any family and friends that come to visit as well. in my case dh didn't really start getting involved until after the nannies left, which weighed on my heart a bit...but that's just my experience good luck and keep visiting!! sandra

If I had it to do over again, I would absolutely have had a night nanny - and I had DH home for 2 weeks and my mom stayed for 2 weeks after that. The first month was extremely hard for me, but it has already gotten better. It could just be that it seems so much better in comparison to the dark period where I was sleeping in a recliner because we couldn't get it together enough to live on more than one floor of the house! Mine weren't preemies, but I'll try to answer any questions you have! Congrats again!
Congrats! I am so happy for you! Be sure to post pics when you can, I want to see those little sweeties. And I love their names! Beautiful!
Congrats on your girls. Hopefully they'll be home really soon! I agree with pp...if you can, have someone help you at night. Your body is still trying to recover and if you can get some sleep, then fabulous! We don't have any family around have been on our own, so I know how tough it can be. Take advantage.... Our boys were 4 lb 13 oz and 5 lb 3 oz when they were born and lost weight (like most babies!) in the hospital before they came home. One son was on a bili blanket for a couple of days, but other than that it was fine. We just needed preemie clothes! The wee little ones are so good to snuggle with.
That is great you get to bring them home in a few days How exciting!!! I hope you guys find a new day nanny soon. Dianna
