Just a few questions for the upcoming year :)

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today.

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take?

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off?

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)?

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to :)

Every stage is "my favorite" lol

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? 2 1/2 b/c I couldn't get them out after c-section & they were starting climbing out anyway

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? dd1 started @ 2 yrs, and dd2 started 4 mo's later (she just
wasn't ready yet). took about 1 week each.... both are still not night trained.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? about 18 mos their speech really took off

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? about 15 mos fir dd1, & 16-17 mos for dd2

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to - pretend play, semi independance w/ pottying, convertions over-heard on the baby monitor!

Every stage is "my favorite" lol

We haven't done 1 & 2 yet, those are our goals over the next 6 months. :)

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off?
18 months for one, around 24 months for the other.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)?
They were doing this over the summer, so I would say by 18/20ish months for sure. I think it would have been earlier if we lived someplace warmer that wasn't covered in ice and snow.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to :)
Oh my gosh, there is so much!! They make us laugh, make each other laugh, they play together, and play independently, they respond to you, and ask for things, and come up with hugs and kisses for no reason, and.......I could go on. I am truly loving the 2 year old stage.

1.We switched my girls around 27/28mths because my one daughters matress was torn and instead of buying a new one for a few months we went out and got twin beds for them. My son we just switched to a twin bed at 27mths because I was tired of hearing him constantly kicking his crib and was worried he would losen the screws to much and it would collapse on him (we did check the screws often). Before we switched we used crib tents. My girls I would have liked to have switched them around three since it was rough the first month in their beds but with the mattress problem we switched earlier.

    2. I showed all of them the potty around 18mths tried training around 2 my one daughter pee trained after a few weeks but we had a constipation problem with her and didn't get that worked out until about 3 1/2-4yrs old. We still have problems with her. My other daughter we tried off and on since 2 and when she turned 3 she decided she was ready and over night went into panties. Both for day and night. My son I am planning on trying for a week in about 2 or 3 wks to train him and if it doesn't work then I will wait 2 mths and try again. I am not going to push him since we had a lot of problems with my one daughter with constipation (I think I pushed to hard) and my other one I was just tired of cleaning undies since she refused to go on the potty even though I know she could do it because she did when she felt like it.

    3. My one daughter was talking well before 18mths, the other not until after 2yrs and she is still hard to understand sometimes. My son is talking pretty good now but is hard to understand sometimes too.

    4. I have four steps they have to go down before we get to the driveway so with holding their hands it was around 16/17mths (I would help them down the stairs and then they would walk to the car and climb in).

    5. I love when they come up and give hugs and kisses. My son is really into that right now and I am constantly getting kisses and hugs from him (especially when he is about to get in trouble, has just gotten in trouble, or wants something from me like watch his favorite show or something to eat). I also love when they get more independent like being able to get something out of the fridge or getting and playing with their own toys. When I don't have to be right next to them all the time and then can play on their own for a little bit.

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today. we haven't yet - they aren't trying to climb out and sleep VERY well in the cribs so we're leaving well enough alone right now - they have been at the lowest setting for over a year. I also have petite children that will climb IN the crib (with the rail down) but don't try to climb out. They'll be 3 in May so I'm thinking around then perhaps...

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? We've had potties since 20 mos or so and now at 2 yrs 8 mos DD is about 50% trained and DS isn't even close - he still pees on the floor (within sight of the potty) if he's got his diaper off too long.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? DD about 18 mos and DS closer to 26 mos or so.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? ugh - I don't remember I think as soon as they were old enough to walk I started making them walk while holding my hands - so probably 15-16 mos or so - so its at least a year since that started.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to oh god - they tell me the funniest things now - they're just chatterboxes and they LOVE LOVE LOVE to help mommy do stuff!

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today. We aren't switching to toddler beds, we're going straight to twin beds when they turn 3. They are still in their cribs with crib tents.

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? At 2 1/2. It took just a couple days with Lily, but she was ready. Grace isn't trained yet, she's not ready. We back off and try with her about every 2-3 weeks.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? At age two I'd say, I can't really remember now.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? Gosh, I don't totally remember. My one DD didn't walk until 20 months, so for her it was after age two.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to. I love the conversations they have, it is so adorable.

    1. Just switched to beds last week because I wanted to start potty training the girls at night--which I haven't started yet because we're still getting used to beds.

    2. We actually started over the summer (2 and a half) but it didn't work, so, we tried again in October. Sarah had success, Allison still wasn't ready. Tried Allison again over Thanksgiving and she was finally successful. We still don't have pooping down, so I guess you could consider us to be still PT'ing.

    3. I can't really remember when vocabulary started taking off, I guess last summer, which would be 18 months. I just remember it took forever for them to start talking which is why we started sign language. Once we did that, they started really picking up words.

    4. Right at two I started letting them walk alone. Since this fall, we've actually let them follow us down the aisle at grocery stores instead of riding in the cart (not every time though) and they've done really well.

    5. I am really enjoying them now at this age because they are saying some of the funniest things and they are beginning to speak in complete sentences. They are especially funny when they try to act like mothers and baby their babies or put each other in time out--it's just adorable. They are also coming up for no reason and giving me hugs and kisses and saying they love me and then taking off a playing--I just love this age!!

Just a few questions for the upcoming year :)

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today. We haven't yet made the switch. I found that sleep sacks are a great way to prevent toddlers from getting out of cribs. They can't raise just one leg high enough to climb out. So now they always have sleep sacks to sleep. We'll transition somewhere between 2.5 - 3 probably.

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? Piper and Cricket got a kid sized seat for the toilet for Xmas this year, so we'll start soon.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? 15 months. They started sign language at 10 months and I really think that helped. Now, at 20 months they talk in three or four word sentences and are never quiet. They're still hard to understand, but I have running commentary in stereo wherever we go. So far, that's my favorite part of twins.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? They could easily walk to the car at 16 months in the garage and have been doing it ever since. I rarely let them walk in parking lots even now at 20 months because they like to run in all directions. If the parking lot isn't crowded and we can park close, I'll let them walk, but usually still use the stroller or a cart into a store.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to :) Talking is great! I love listening to my girls talk to their dolls when they don't know I'm nearby. They also talk to each other before bed and it's so darn cute. Piper will usually say 'night night Cricket. Sleep now. No cry. Love you' which is the exact same thing I say before I put them down each night. Cricket will almost always respond with 'Love too (I love you too). She will then say good night to everything she can think of, her dolls, her stuffed animals, us -- even though we're not in the room, the moon, etc.

Every stage is "my favorite" lol Me too, but 16+ months is my favorite favorite.

Edited because I forgot to bold!

Haven't done this yet. I want to keep them in cribs as long as possible :)

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take?
One DD showed interest before 18 months so we got potty chairs then. She will pee on the potty and both tell us when they need to go, but I don't consider us actively training them. We probably will be more consistent this summer.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off?
18 months and by 20 months they were saying 3-4 word sentences.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)?
Around 14 months. My girls were walking by their first b-day though.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to.
Talking and telling you what they think, want, feel, or need. Its SOOOO great to have a conversation with them. Oh and to hear them talking to each other while playing... and hear them say things that you say to them come out of their mouths is hillarious!

    Hi

My two (id girls) are 2 yr 7 mths now:

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today. Not yet! I'm keeping them in cots as long as possible as they still wake at 5.30 am and I prefer to leave them to play happily in their cots for half an hour!

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? Not started yet as DD2 has a constipation and eating problem that we are advised by the hospital needs sorting out first. DD1 would probably potty train now ok but DD2 would want to copy her so we are leaving off until she really wants to as its not fair on DD2

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off?about 22 months, both the same

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)?about 2

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to I love watching them play imaginative games together, my singleton boys never did this and they are so cute!

Sorry if I have messed this up, I am a noobie !

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why??: We switched at 2yrs 3mos. The beds that matched their furniture were being discontinued so we had to purchase them. Rather than store them, we went ahead and set them up. How's that for a reason?! Hah!

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? Hannah started training at 2yrs 6mos. and Ben started training at 2 yrs. 9mos. They both took a couple of days to be fully day trained. Hannah was in underwear at night after a month or so, and Ben is still in pull-ups at night. They were super easy to train. I lucked out.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? Hannah's never really took off. It just slowly got better and better. I don't remember a specific age, but I kno she had a fairly decent sized vocabulary by two, and was even using simple sentences. Ben's vocab took off after three. He was a very late bloomer (no words at two). He went from speaking two work phrases to complex sentences over night.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? As soon as they learned to walk they walked to the car. It takes some time to get them to learn that they MUST hold your hand in a parking lot. Be consistent and they WILL get it. I promise.

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today.

We added crib tents at 15 months when they started climbing out and switched to toddler beds shortly after they turned 3. We switched because one destroyed his tent in a scary way (fractured a fiberglass support) so it was a lesser of two evils sort of thing.

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take?

Started at about 21 months. They were "naked trained" in a couple of days but remained in diapers while clothed until 2.5 when the concept clicked. They night trained around October/November so 37-38 months.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off?

It was a gradual shift for us. I know they were using short sentences by 18 months.

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)?

They could do it pretty well at 15 months but only when they felt like it. They preferred to be carried until closer to 2.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to

The conversations between them are hilarious!

    1. We put our boys in regular size twin beds a couple weeks ago. So, they were about 2 years and 10.5 months old when we made the move.

    2. I don't really do "potty training" per se. My kids follow me or DH to the bathroom frequently and are exposed to the concept. If they want to try, we let them. My DD decided one morning she was ready to stop wearing diapers when she was 2 years and 9 months. From that day on she didn't wear diapers. We never did pull ups - at all (except for sleeping). One of my boys has been wanting to use the potty on and off for the past few weeks, with success, and today was his first day in briefs - and no accidents. My other son has shown NO interest whatsoever, so we'll see when he decideds to make the move. It's so much easier to let them dictate when they are ready.

    3. I don't remember really when they starting using real words, but do remember when they started talking in sentences that not only I can understand, but people that don't know my kids could understand. My DD started talking like that shortly after she turned 2, my boys just recently started conversational talking a month or so ago.

    4. My boys were really late walkers, (14 months and 16 months), but as soon as they could walk they did so to the car. Our rule has always been they have to hold my hand though. This is an interesting concept with three little ones when I am the only parent, but we still do it.

    5. I LOVE to listen to my boys talk to each other when they are getting ready to go to sleep, or after they have awakened, but I'm sure you already get a bit of that, even if you can't understand what they are saying. I love watching their little personalities develope. My boys are totally different than I thought they'd be when they were babies. One of my sons has a great sense of humor and will frequently tell me something, wait for my reaction, and then follow with, "I'm just joking!" or "I'm pulling your leg!"

I'm like you and have totally loved every stage they have been in. I've never been anxious for one stage to end and the next to begin, but have still loved the next stage when it arrived. However, just remember that the older they get, the fewer those times you get to hold and snuggle with them occur. Cherish every moment of that - even if it's in the middle of the night!

    1. What age did you switch to toddler beds and why?? We just went to our LOWEST setting on the cribs today. We just switched in October right before the girls turned 3. They never attempted to climb out of the crib and we did it at 3 because well it was just time.

    2. When did you start potty training? How long did it take? Started DD1 at 2 years 8 mos, took about a month to feel really comfortable that she had it down and DD#2 at 2 years 10 mos and took about 2 months before she really got it.

    3. When did your LOs vocabulary take off? Around 18 mos they both had a lot of words and soon after were putting them together and starting to form sentences

    4. How old were they when they could walk out to the car alone (I mean without you carrying them)? Girls just started doing this when we got a minivan. Before that the SUV we had was too high. They probably would have done it sooner if we had the minivan earlier.

    5. Tell me a fun fact, or something you most enjoy that I have to look forward to :) So much! Having a full conversation with them, being amazed by the questions they ask, having them play together without fighting every 5 mins.

We are too young to answer number 1. I would guess when they are both climbing out of the cribs we will attempt it.

We bought potty chairs when they turned a year old and we are starting the training this month

Just in the last 6 weeks they seem to learn a new word every day to every other day...it is crazy!!!

DD walked at 10 months, DS 11 months and we started letting them walk to the car about 13 months when we felt they were most sufficient at walking

I love this stage so much, they are so interactive, reactive and just plain goofy! They learn and mimic and that makes me laugh all the time.
