I'm horrible but I am going to hide Elmo and Cookie Monster

We were given Hokey Pokey Elmo and Cookie Monster. Jake loves them both, but can't figure out how to turn them on. So I spend most of my day turning it on for him and it's driving me crazy. He gets sooooo mad when he can't figure it out for himself.

I am really thinking of hiding them for the next few months. Out of sight, out of mind....right?

There's nothing wrong with that! Unless that is their sole toy so now they literally have nothing to play with! ;)
I've done the same thing with a few toys, most recently a book about using the potty. It had a button that when pressed made a flushing noise, like a toilet. I got to the point that if I heard a toilet flush one more time I was going to lose it! That book is gone until they are potty training!

Yep, out of sight out of mind. I did that with a few of their toys. They loved the lights and music and I got so sick of it.

We have this same book. Really annoying sounds!!!

I agree! I have hidden my daughter's recorder/harmonica and kazoos. I have given them back at different time and wonder what was I thinking. Finally I made her only play with them outside!

I'm guilty of it too! They have these laptop computers that will be great in a few months, but right now they just like to press the volume button which makes an annoying monkey sound. The computers are now hiding in my stamp room (aka junk room). I thought you were going to say you hid the Elmo and Cookie Monster that make noises when their heads move. We had one in the car and every time I turned a corner I heard "COOKIE, YUM, YUM, YUM"! Drove me batty!

Shhhhh. Elmo is in the closet. Cookie Monster is downstairs with them and I'll have to hide him later.

All the other toys I'm fine with because "I" don't have to press the buttons over and over and over and over again.

There are several toys that have 'gone missing.' If it saves your sanity, then its ok by me :) Oh and some of those toys have been donated to our local thrift shop...

Or take the batteries out! Of course that will make him mad cause he can't hear it, right? Yeah, so hiding it might be the answer! I have definitely had to do this before.

I decided to get rid of a toy today for that same reason. Don't feel bad. I am sure we have all been there MANY times!!!

Shhhh....don't tell my kids, but there has been several toys/books that I have put in the out of sight and out of mind pile...I think it's totally normal! We parents can only take so much!

Anyone have sunshine bear? That is the only toy I have absolutly hated so much that I would hide it! My sister got it for them on x-mas. She hasn't had any kids YET. I'm saving it for them! :D

That was our exact problem with Elmo Live! There's like 5 different places they can touch to make him do something but for some reason, I have to do it! <_< I put it on the bottom of their toy box & plan to keep it there for awhile!

Yup when they are sleeping they go hiding and never seem to come back out. They didn't even notice.
