I'll be 20 weeks this Friday! Yahoo! I have been fortunate and have had zero complications (other than severe m/s which I had with DD too) so far, if I didn't get an early u/s, I may not even know that I am pregnant with twins. I have only seem my Doc three times this pregnancy because I went on vacation at the end of August and she was on vacation at the beginning of September. I haven't totally bonded with her. This is a different practice than I went to with my DD and I want to make sure I take charge of my pregnancy like I did with DD. She is very qualified, has delivered twins and has tons of knowledge. I'm confident in her but I don't feel the bond yet.

So, what should I expect going forward? Should my appointments start being more frequent? Should I demand more u/s's? Wednesday will be my third. I have a great DH and I get to rest quite a bit. I am starting to gain weight, I am at 10-12 pounds now which is good for me. I am starting to eat more meats again and more robust meals.

I'm in the same boat as you. Haven't really bonded with my ob, but have had an uneventful pregnancy thus far. I've only seen him 4 times so far. I think I'm going to just follow his protocol as long as things keep going with the status quo
At our last appointment (3 weeks ago, 2 days after our anomoly u/s) he said we should expect to have regular u/s at least once a month and more often toward the end. Up until now we just had the early scan at 6 weeks (which I requested...and thereby found out it was in fact twins!) and the regular 20 week scan (which we had at 18 weeks)

By the end of October I will have had 8 ultrasounds all together. I went every 3 weeks pretty much. I didn't get my first ultrasound until May though so starting in my third month. And it was in my 5th month that I started seeing my doctor every 3 weeks and then I graduated to every 2 weeks and now I go every week until they come because I have started dilating. I trust my doctor completely but he delivered my son and has been my OB/GYN for 6 years.

I think the number of appointments depends on your doc and the type of twins you have, as some are prone to more complications. I just delivered fraternal di/di twins in July. My appointments were every four weeks until week 28. Then we did every two weeks until week 34 and then we went once a week. I had an U/S pretty much every visit after week 24. I delivered at week 38. My doc, was an OB, and he delivered my daughter too, so I had a great bond with him. I know liking your doc is one thing, but truly trusting them is another. Good luck to you!

I am almost envious of some of you! We found out we were pregnant at 6wks, had our first appt at 7wks and found out it was twins! I am labeled "high risk" because its twins, because I delivered my daughter at 35wks, because I went into remission with my leukemia just over a year ago, and a few other things. So I am the lucky contestant that has been going every 2-3wks the entire time! I am a carrier of CF and several other things which had to be tested, all NEGATIVE so far, yay! My chemotherapy drugs have had no effects on A and B, either, so we are dodging a lot of bullets. I have become anemic, which, to my doctor, is the worst complication so far. My chemotherapy drugs have had no effects on A and B, either, so we are dodging a lot of bullets. ....now if only they would stop being creatures of the night, like their father, and let me sleep!

Thanks Ladies! It's good to see that I am receiving the proper scheduled care. I'm totally confident in her abilites. She has no problem delivering Baby B breech if necessary and has totally explained every questions I have asked. Now I need to make my list so I can make sure I get all of my concerns answered. :)

    All,

Just my experiences. I'm almost 25 weeks. I still see my primary OB once a month. After next month, it goes to every 2 weeks. But I also go for cervix measurements every two weeks - that started at 18 weeks. They check to make sure that my cervix is long and closed and i'm not going into preterm labor which I know is a concern for twins. Also, every 4 weeks, I go for growth scans.

I find the cervix scans reassuring as it seems that shortening cervix is one reason why people are put on bedrest.

Can't remember my OB's schedule, but since my OB didn't have u/s equipment I saw a great peri once a month. I asked him how often I would be seen and he said if I only saw him every four weeks it would be a good thing! Assuming everything was going well, that's all he needed.

By the end, my OB appointments were boring. Always loved the growth scans, and as a PP said, cervix measurements were a confidence builder.

So take your relaxed schedule as a sign that things are good!

One tip - check out Dr. Luke's book on multiple pregnancies. She's great about laying out nutritional guidelines. One of the most useful things I read while pregnant.
