Natalie has recently rediscovered her Belle Costume from Halloween. I got the one from the Disney Store. She now insists upon wearing it. The moment she wakes up, "I want to be princess Natalie Belle." I have to pry her out of it at meal times, nap time and when we leave the house. She is adament that, "I am a princess. I am princess Natalie Belle. I like to sparkle." If I weren't trying to get her potty trained it would be really cute but frankly, the cloud of yellow tulle is in the way during our potty sessions. Dh has taken to hiding the dress at night after she goes to bed in the hope that if it's "out of sight, out of mind." Nope.... She looks everywhere in the play room and then declares to all that will listen, "OH NO! Cupcake (our dog) has hided my Belle Dress! Where is my Belle Dress? Momma! I am a Princess! I NEED my Belle Dress!" Over and over and over and over.... Eventually, even Annika begins to beg for the dress... "MOM! Natalie needs her Belle Dress! MOM! Natalie wants to be a princess Belle! MOM where is Natalie's Belle dress Go?" until it "magically" appears.... "My faiwy godmother has founded my dress! There IT IS!" Suddenly, all is right with the world again, peace settles upon the N kingdom, and they all live happily ever after... Until nap time.

Ok, despite that being absolutely adorable, I could totally see how it could be an issue. Have you tried telling her that it's dirty and you have to send it to get clean? I use that with my kids all the time and they usually buy it!

I started trying to convince her that her Princess panties are exactly what Belle would wear. I've had a couple of days where I have managed to keep her in nothing but her panties, a crown and her dress up shoes (It was warm over the weekend). I'm thinking I'm gonna tell her the fairy godmother has taken it to the dry cleaners and she will bring it back when Natty learns to use the potty like a big princess... :winking0009: Maybe that will be the necessary motivation to get this done.

Katherine had a Princess dress that she wore a lot for a while. Whenever she had to use the bathroom she would ask me to take if off and when she was done we would put it back on. Wasn't that bad & I didn't have to worry about it getting dirty in the bathroom.

I would let her wear it to her hearts content. It is adorable and a relatively short phase :)

That's really cute - from where I sit! :D I would be a little nuts! The potty training thing is hard enough without that!! :D

Post a picture!! I'm sure it's darling!!
