We are going to be moving the girls out of their infant car seats soon. They aren't near the weight limits yet but they really would rather be sitting up than reclining. My question is how do you run errands. It seems like suck a pain to pull out the giant stroller at every stop. I have been using the snap-n-go but those days will soon be over :(

I know that the easiest thing is to do them alone after DH gets home, but I really like to try to get out of the house at least a couple times a week.

Today I had to run to Walgreens to pick up some pictures. A 2 minute trip alone, but with the girls...I found myself buying more stuff just so that it didn't take me longer to shop then it did to get them into the store!

So...how do you do it? Do you put them in their strollers at each stop or do you grab a cart real quick put them both in the seat of a cart?

I can't wait to hear all of the different things that people have come up with!

I used to park next to one of the cart storage (put back) places and just grab a cart ie walmart, grocery store etc.. and that made it easier when leaving too. Or if not available then yes lugging the stroller in and out.

We either run errands alone while one parent stays home or we go as a family and take the stroller.

If I'm alone I always do the stroller. With DH we do either stroller or carts. So in answer to your question...yep, stroller.

Wow that's a good question. ;) And I can't wait to hear some answers. My little ones are only 10 weeks old but I did the same thing as you. I went into a BRU just for formula and walked around and around just so I would not have to put them back in the car so quickly. (And by now i could basically do inventory at BRU...have been there too much. I need to go elsewhere).Sorry  off topic .....can't wait to hear what people do at your twins' age.
(Today I actually stayed in the peds. offce so much longer than necessary just because I didn't want to pack up and go home.)

I don't run quick errands with the twins, like you said it takes way too long to get them in the stroller or cart for a short trip. I wait until DH is home and one of us goes alone. If I have to run to Target for a few things I just put them in the stroller, but don't do errands with them that are just in and out of the store.

I do just in-and-out errands but mine are still in the carseats ... I do what another poster said, where I park next to a cart corral and put both carseats in the cart and shop that way. I just did that today, ran to the grocery store for a few things. It gets me out of the house! The one time I took a stroller and a cart I had a hard time maneuvering, I think I would just rather run short errands alone.

I don't find it takes very long to get them in and out of the car. We have been in the convertable carseats since about 7 months and I bought the Twin Savvy LX stroller. It is a breeze to fold and use, I actually found getting out easier than the days of the infant carseats and duoglider.
I have to say though, I try and places that everything in the same strip mall- the grocery, bank, drugstore, etc.

We pretty much only do errands on weekends -- either one parent is with the girls and the other running errands, or we do them as a family (a great way to get out of the house on winter afternoons). The few times that I have taken both girls by myself, I use the stroller.

As an aside, I was very daunted by having to give up the snap & go (and the infant carriers) too, but like everything else, it's awkward at first but not so bad once you get used to it. :)

I make DH stop on the way home from work, I run out while the nanny is here (during my work hours), or I run errands at night or on the weekend when DH is home.

It can be a pain, but the stroller was the easiest option for me, unless I could find someone to go with me, which was and still is rare.

Leave the children at home.

Sorry I couldn't help myself. I always take someone with me, DH or my mother (we are really close). Depending on where we are going I use our strollor or we each use a cart. I have my DH grap things on his way home from school or work a lot.

Is there such a thing as running in real quick? Every once in awhile I will have dh grab something on his way home, but 9/10 times, it's me loading them up and getting the stroller out wherever we go.

I usually don't do quick errands on my own, like you, I hate getting them all situated for a two minute ordeal! :spiteful: Either dh or I go, or I try and wait it out until I can go to the store and get more then one thing...if possible.

If it's a 2-second errand, then I too do it alone late at night. But I take them on ALL of my other errands. It gets us out of the house and something for them to look at. I either use the stroller, OR put one in a shopping cart, and one in a bjorn strapped to me. The only problem is that EVERYONE stops you to say what a great job you are doing getting 2 around like that, and the one on the bjorn gets restless. But it gets us out of the house! :)

I go at night or we save them up and either go as a family and one sits in the car if they fall asleep or take the stroller. Sometimes we split up and one has the twins while the other has the 3 y.o.
We got a Maclaren Twin Techno for errands, car use etc (Chariot for all other stuff) which folds down easily and is fairly light. I know you can get plastic clips that will turn 2 regular umbrella strollers into a twin stroller. I took the twins grocery shopping the other day and had one in the hip sling and the other in the cart. That worked fairly well - they were able to 'talk' to each other and play while I pushed. The bonus - no stopping to answer twin questions!
