I'll ask too!

15 months now.. and I'm still questioning whether or not they're identical or fraternal. My husband and I have no problem telling them apart, but so many times I just think that they look A LOT alike. I'm highly considering doing a DNA test just out of curiosity.

We were told fraternal from the get go because of being di/di, but I know that's not always the case. I've asked about the placenta afterwards because some doctor said it was only one placenta. No one was able to answer if it was fused or if it had been one all along and they made a mistake. I don't know their blood types either. However, they have the same bright blue eye color and really light blonde hair color. Riley has always weighed about 10oz more so he's always looked a little "chunkier" than Wyatt.

Wow, they look a LOT alike. I am not good at this game because my twins look absolutely nothing alike so anyone that looks similar looks identical to me. Very cute though

I bet your dr. or hosp. would have their blood types to help eliminate if they can't be ID. If the types are the same, then you'd have to do the dna test...

as for ID vs Frat. if there was just 1 placenta, then they'd have to be ID, but from the chart they have to be mono/mono to share a placenta.

a third of the way down on this link is a great chart on the various stages of when ID twins are formed... if they were truly di di, then its possible they are fraternal or ID. Any of the other combinations are definitely ID... if they shared the Chorion they still would have had separate placentas inside their own amniotic sacs.

anyway, for me, I think I'd get the test so that we'd know for certain. not that it matters, but it would be useful info to know if a medical situation arises.

Joelle, I didn't realize you weren't sure if they were identical or not. I'm totally sure they are. I can NEVER tell them apart in pictures of facebook. I used www.dnasolutions.com for our testing. $99. Totally worth the money to know.

I have to vote for ID too.....they are more alike at those young ages then MINE were. Mine have become more and more alike as they get older - unlike a friends fraternal girls who got more and more DIFFERENT as they got older.

 

I vote identical, but would do the DNA testing to be sure. They are adorable!

 

I would totally guess ID as well, their eye shape, nose shape and lip shape are all the same! :wub: :wub:

Don't waste your money... they're ID without a doubt. Take a look at each of their individual features - they have the exact same nose, same eyes, same mouth. The only thing that's really different is their face shapes, and that's womb positioning and weight related.

My boys were thought to be frat during pregnancy and after everyone asked me how I told them apart. I thought they were all crazy until everyone here told me they thought they were ID and then my Ped told me to save my money, that they're ID. I do know they have the same blood type, but he said their features along w their toe shape and lines on their hands and feet were exactly the same. Interesting little things I had never even looked at b/f. Now one is quite a bit chunkier than the other, but that's the only difference!

 

oh they are such handsome little boys and they are so identical my girls have always been pretty close in weight and height to. One has a a little chubbier cheeks but really theres no telling them apart thankfully Lylla was born with a premie mark, lucky us lol

 

ID! The first pic is so similar. I had to do the DNA test, myself, even though I was sure they were. If other people really can't tell them apart or you've ever mixed them up, I think those are pretty good indicators.
