If Your Child Was Older When Baptized, What Did He/she Wear?

My girls will be 10 or 11 months old when baptized and I tried a bonnet on them and I thought it looked silly since they are so big now! I'm thinking they won't wear the traditional bonnet and long dress. The baptism will be in May or June. Should I put them in a really nice shorter dress with either flowers in their hair or a sun hat or something like that?

DS was 1yr when he was baptized and DD was 2. I had DD wear a long white dress and flowers in her hair and she was so cute DS was able to wear a baptismal shorts outfit, but would NOT keep his bonnet on for the life of him. Good luck!

 

My sister and I were baptized at 10 and 12 years old, but I see that's not what you mean... Anyway, for your kids I think something like a nice Easter dress would be adorable.

 

My boys were baptized at 3 mo and wore little blue knitted sleeper like outfits, that were quite dressy. My DD was at 6 mo and she wore a white frilly dress with no bonnet or hat of any kind. Keep in mind at our church you had to be able to open up the outfit and expose part of the chest to put oil on. We were able to undo the buttons and pull it forward for that part.

My girls are going to be baptized in June (at almost 15 months). I bought them shorter white eyelet dresses at the Gap. Maybe if their hair is long enough I'll put a ribbon or something in it, otherwise nothing on their head.

 

My girls were all 14 months when they were baptized. We found a white eyelet dress with a pink ribbon running around the bottom for Caitlyn. For the twins my aunt happened to send the girls very pretty white dress for their birthday that year. That is what they wore. The dresses came to their knees. None of them wore anything in their hair.
