If you used sleep sacks

I'm dreading the day they climb out of the crib, but I've heard mixed feedback about whether sleep sacks would prevent them from climbing or not... What was your experience?

Funny you should ask =) I just ordered crib rails last week bc one of mine started climbing out (we use the crib for 'time outs' when they need to calm down and she gets so ticked that she works up the nerve to climb out ... for some reason she doesn't do it when we just put her down to bed or for naps). Anyway, we used sleep sacks until they were about two and they never tried (at least not that I know of) in their sleep sacks. My only fear would be that in a sleep sack she may catapault over on her head ... at least now, she just throws one leg over and lands on her feet or tush. IMO, I think it helped from ever putting the idea into their heads ... we liked using them ... just ended up stopping bc they had runny poop for a few days and kept pooping on them and we only had one each that fit them and I just got tired of washing them over and over ... so didn't use them once and the girls slept fine without them and it is one less step when you are putting them down and getting them up! I would keep using them for a while longer if I were you!

Nope, sleep sacks didn't stop my guys but maybe they delayed them a little because they were climbing onto the kitchen counters before they climbed out of their cribs.

Didn't even slow them down...well, it might have slowed them down but not a lot.

I don't think it stops them but I'm not sure. :pardon: Mine were in sleep sacks until right before they turned 3 and they never did climb out of the crib, but they still don't. So I'm not sure if that can be contributed to the sleep sack or not.

I don't know if sleep sacks would stop/slow them from climbing out of the crib. Just wanted to offer you some hope that they might never try to climb out-none of mine ever did (A & B had sleep sacks, N & L did not). Maybe you'll be lucky too. :)

Ours are still in sleepsacs and cribs  - we've nearly got around to buying beds and bedding - and they've never even tried to climb out. It's kind of odd because they're both able to put their sleepsacs on alone and take them off alone. They can also climb out when their sleepsacs are off - often in the morning they'll take their sleepsacs off after we're up and climb / jump in and out of their cots for fun. But they've never tried it otherwise. So for us I guess it's been a deterrrant since they'll climb everything else and won't stay in beds or anything.
