If you use crib tents, DON'T DO THIS!

DH thought the easiest way to transition from tented cribs to big-boy beds would be to leave the tents open with the understanding that we'd zip them back up if the boys repeatedly got out of bed. It seemed like a good idea at the time and it was working really well until last night.

T&T were especially wound up after the festivities of the day. I heard them outside their room and went up to walk them back to bed. Trevor blurted out, "Trent did it! Trent broke bed!" Sure enough, Trent must have been climbing on the tent because the dome was completely inverted. I went to slide the poles out of the pockets so I could fix the dome and discovered with a painful jab that he'd actually shattered them. I'm glad he wasn't hurt and I've taken both tents down now but I thought I should share so nobody else makes this mistake.

I'm glad he wasn't hurt too! Yikes! Do their cribs convert to toddler beds? We ended up taking down one side of the crib, and they liked that for a year or so more. Good luck!

Your kids think of everything, don't they! :D I do think going from crib tents to beds made them a little wild with instant freedom, but I wasn't sure what else to do. Sometimes I want to put tents on their beds!!

Thanks for the info. Mine have been in tented cribs for over a year now and it does sound like a good idea, I know mine love their tents and we are going to switch after the holidays. I remember changing the tent in the summer and the pole split and I got a splinter from the plastic rod splitting and it hurt! Glad they are ok.

Soooo....how did the night go with them tentless? I'm glad he didn't get hurt.

It sounds like your boys might actually have a conscience (seeing as how they were concerned when it broke and eager to confess/tattle to you). Is that something they've always had, or can I look forward to us developing one sometime in the next six months (or brace myself for raising psychopaths)?

Holy cannoli! That is frightening! That is my worst fear with Kevin. Thanks for the heads up Deb. I hope the new beds are going well.

OH that's scary!! I'm glad he was ok! We don't use crib tents but will probably need them any day now :D

Thanks for the warning. I don't know if A&S would let us walk away without zipping them up (eek, the universe would be out of order!), but it's good to know that can happen. So glad he wasn't hurt! I don't see how you could have predicted that.

Bedtime took one hour last night. Not as bad as Supernanny episodes I've seen.

They've only recently become fond of tattling and blaming each other for things. I can't get a straight answer anymore on what happened where I used to be able to get a confession entirely lacking remorse. I'm not sure which is better.
