If you nap yours in the same room

I must have been insane, but I put them down to nap in the same room today. It never, ever works for them. Well, today I put Bea down to nap in the crib like normal. They like to say "goodnight" to each other, so Ainsley was with me. This is the normal routine, we put Bea down, they say bye, I tell Bea that Ainsley is going to sleep downstairs (she goes in the PNP). Ainsley is the short napper, usually only naps 1-1.5 hrs, if she naps, she's still kind of hit and miss. Anyway, today Bea got all upset and was signing and saying "Aws!"(Ainsley) as we were leaving. I said "do you want Ainsley to sleep in here with you?" and she said yes, so I thought what the heck. Anyway, they did end up sleeping, but Ainsley woke a little after an hour. I tried sneaking in to get her out, but of course it woke Bea up and she was a giant grump the rest of the day.

Sooo.. I'm debating now if I should even try this napping together thing. Bea especially is getting all concerned about where Ainsley is when she's not in sight, so I don't know if she's going to be upset if I continue to separate for naps. But, Ainsley is never going to nap over two hours like Bea does. Do you just let the early waker fuss, or do you sneak in somehow to get her, or do you make the other wake when the first one wakes?

Gosh, it's so hard to say because each kid is so different.

My kids shared a room until they were 2 years old. We moved to a new house & split them up. When they shared a room, I always put them down at the same time & I rarely retrieved one. I'd just wait until they were both up. It was a sanity saver for me. My kids slept pretty good though, and from what I remember from some of your previous posts, you guys have got nap issues already. I was always surprised wht my kids would sleep through. One time Gillian threw up in the night. I got her out of bed, changed her, changed her sheets & gave her a bath. Garrett slept through the entire thing!!!

The funniest part about the sleeping issues, is that I always thought Gillian was cramping Garrett on sleep. Since we've been in the new house, Gillian RARELY rises before her brother!!

K&K have always shared a room and I always waited until I heard both of them before going in to get them. One would still continue to sleep even after the other woke. The one who woke first would always just chat to him/herself and once I heard them chatting with each other was my cue to head on in.

We do the exact same thing.

it became a problem for us......so I put one in the spare bedroom in a pack n play for nap and then they still sleep in the same room in their cribs at night.

I've always had them nap and sleep in the same room so it's never been an issue. If one wakes up earlier, she'll play with the toys or read the books in her crib. If she starts to whine, I'll juts go get her and the other one doesn't even stir.

Mine haved napped in the same room since day 1, they have always been in different cots though. Sophie always wakes up before Jack so i put her cot closest to the door so when she wakes up i can just whip her out and leave him to sleep x

Ours always nap and sleep in the same room. I think they're used to it and one won't usually wake the other up. Actually, we keep a few toys in their crib (I know, bad mommy!) so that if one wakes before the other, he'll just sit there and play quietly until mommy comes to get him!

I usually just leave them too, but every once in a while (very rare) they are dramatically different in their times (waking times) and I'll grab one and leave the other for another 20 min. or so. It's almost like the sleeping child likes/knows the other one is talking etc, but somehow that's a comfort..... (totally just a theory)

Well, they are in the same room again today. When I put Bea down, Ainsley was standing at her crib, rattling the bars. I picked her up to take her downstairs and she started fussing and signing sleep and pointing to her crib, so I said what the heck. I don't know what's wrong with me, I think I'm brain dead right now. So far, they are talking and laughing. This experiment never works, I dont even know why I'm trying it. If they actually do fall asleep today, I'll let Ainsley fuss a bit when she wakes. When they wake at night, they can almost always sleep through each other's crying, but me opening the door and they are up.

I put them down at the same time but Carter for the most part is always up before Spencer. Sometimes Spencer wakes as well, sometimes he doesn't. If Carter starts to whine I go and get him.

Mine share a room and we put them down at the same time and like pps I normally wait until I hear both to get them. DS usually wakes first and quietly babbles. But sometimes he slaps his meaty palm on the wall  and if it's too early I try to lay him back down or just take him out.

I had to seperate them for naptime. However, when Erin wakes first, I have to get her quickly. She has started climbing out of the PNP and goes to check on sissy, Brooke does not like to be waken up early..

My situation is slighly different because Joey and Ellie are 2 and 1, and in a toddler bed and crib. But they nap and go to bed at the same time. Joey's fussing at bedtime doesn't bother Ellie, and Ellie's middle of the night wakings don't bother Joey. In the morning, If Joey wakes up first she'll just come out of her room. If Ellie wake up first I try to hurry in so Joey sleeps.

Mine nap on the couch in the living room, and one usually always wakes before the other... but they are really compassionate to one another... they are quiet and sit next to me, or play quietly waiting on brother to wake.

my girls do share a room for naps. when its 'yay-yay time' mummy said the one word 'yay-yay' (lay) and thegirls know its time for their nap.

they dont mind, i carry them into their room and they lay for a while talking and laughing, somtimes they get upset if they were havng fun before their nap but they soon are both off to sleep.

they stay asleep for anywhere between half an hour-2 hours and when one wakes up then they are both awake.

Just wanted to update, it's actually going OK! Much to my shock, I thought this would be a disaster. Yesterday, Ainsley woke up at 1.5 hrs, was fussing, so I let her be. But then I heard a thud and a cry like she hurt herself, I think she hit her head on the crib. So, I went in and it did wake up Bea, but she was fine, not grumpy. Then today, they both slept over 2 hrs and we ended up getting them up.

K&K used to 'party' a little before they went to sleep so what I did was start putting them in a little earlier than I thought they needed to be so they could get their chit chatting out of the way before it really was nap time. I really enjoyed those times listening on the monitor and I think they enjoyed having some time without mom saying "please don't do this, please don't do that etc etc". Sorry to hear about the head bump but hope things continue to go well for you.
