Since my "if you had a vaginal birth how far apart were they born " topic did so well I thought I'd ask another...

If you had your twins at 37w0d or later how much did they weigh at birth and did they have any nicu time?

Although Im a very petite person. We expected my twins to be a full pound (each) heavier than what they were for the gestation at which I delivered and according to our last growth scan.

They were 5#4oz & 4#13oz but lucky for us no nicu time :)

39W0D, 6 pounds 9 ounces & 6 pounds 1 ounce (19.75"). They were very, very close to my size at birth and I was a 40-week single. No NICU; Trent spent 10 minutes in the warmer and that was it.

My girls were born at 37 wks, 1 day, and they were 6,13 and 6,9. One had a few hours of NICU time for "wet lungs" (I forget the proper medical term) because she didn't get squeezed on the way out (I had a c/s). She was fine after a couple of hours.

However, DS1 also had this, and he was 41 wks, 2 day and weighed 9 lbs, 8 oz. It was because of the c/s.

Ours were born 38 weeks 1 day. Luke weighed 5lbs 14 oz and Sophia was 5 lbs 9 oz. They were born by c/s and did not have time in the NICU. They were concerned because Sophia swallowed a lot of fluid when she came out but the nursery was able to suction a lot of it out and she was fine later in the day.

    Hi there,

Great thead! I've often wondered the same thing. Mine were born at 38w 1d. DD was 5# 6oz. and DS was 4# 10oz.....small! They were very healthy. There was absolutely no NICU time. They were born vaginally and went home with us 48 hours later. I was surprised at the small weights as I was piling on the food especially in my third trimester, LOL, due to hunger. DS did drop off his growth curve, so they actually induced. He came out scrunched up and did not fully stretch out on his own for nearly a week after being born. It must have been tight in there for the little guy and may have interfered with growth they said. Their dr. assured me babies will weigh what they weigh and no one was concerned b/c they were so healthy. Btw, he also pointed out that I was 6# 7oz. born at 42 weeks and DH was born at 5# 15 oz. as a 40 weeker. We were just all small babies. HTH :).

I delivered (vaginally) at 37 weeks and 4 days. Sofia was 6 lbs 1 oz, Maya was 4 lbs 8 oz.

Now, they had NO idea Maya was going to be that small! The last measurements I had done were at 34 weeks and they were both measuring 4 lbs 8 oz. I think Maya stopped growing.

    Oh, and No NICU time!

My girls were born at 37w 0d and weighed 6lbs 2oz. & 6lbs 1oz. No nicu time, just warmer lights while I was in recovery after my c-section. And Katharine, baby A, had measured a pound lighter just the week before at my final ultrasound and Monique was measuring about a pound heavier than her birth weight. :)

37w0d, vaginal delivery (my water broke, too...no induction), A was 5lbs1oz, E was 4lbs13oz. Both were measuring over 6 1/2 lbs according to my growth scan the week before...guess it's not "accurate within half a pound" like the drs told me! No NICU time, either...they evaluated them there and kept bringing them back to the nursery for weight checks b/c A's sugar was low and E was so small, but they roomed in with us and came home with us 2 days after delivery!

My girls were delivered by C/S at 38 weeks. A was 8lbs1oz and B was 6lbs15oz. 10 minutes NICU for low blood sugar (I had GD). Once they had an ounce of formula they were sent to me in the recovery room.
