We are suppose to fly out for vacation on Friday and one of my boys ran a temp. of 103 all weekend (according to the doc. it was just a virus) and he is now in recovery and should be good as new by Friday. So......... please tell me there is a possiblity that my other one won't get the same thing later this week! What are your experiences will one twin getting sick, does the other always follow?

I tend to just expect it and when it doesn't happen I am so happy that only one got sick instead of both. I never really know how it is going to go!

Usually....sorry! But they usually do it one right after the other. So it would be the next day or two after... Sorry!!

Last winter when one got sick, the other one sometimes didn't. It did happen more than it didn't, but there were times when it didn't. I hope he doesn't and you have an uneventful trip!!

Thus far, mine have always BOTH gotten sick. However, the 2nd kiddo usually gets it 2-3 days later & in a different severity. It never fails that one gets it horrible & the other mild...but it's hard to say who gets it which way each time (ie Aiden almost got hospitalized with RSV but Conner got it super mild 3 days later). I think everything my guys pick up is from daycare, so they're not only exposed together there, but then swap germs at home..making it a double whammy!

Most incubation periods are 7-10 days, so hopefully you'll either miss getting sick or he won't get sick til you get back ;)

For us, yes, one does follow the other. As pp mentioned, I just sort of expect them both to be sick but I do hope and hope and hope that DH and I do not get sick!

Yes, when one of mine gets sick, the other usually follows a day or two later. Usually the first to get sick is the sickest and the other gets it more mild.

Good luck to you for your trip!

For us, it has always been just a matter of days before the other girl starts showing signs of the same illness.

This is the "norm" for us, too.

For us it depends on which one gets sick. Avery rarely gets sick and Evan seems to catch it all. He had something last week and they kept sharing drinks and Avery never caught it.

I have one twin that seems to catch eveything and one who seems to avoid most things. So do your best when one is sick to wash hands and keep them separate as you can while all in the same house. With 5 kids I know some things get passed around but not most things. I just never know who will get what.

Yup- 99% of the time, they both get it. And no, they never manage to come down w/ it on the same day- it takes a few days, thus extending the "sick" time that we're all stuck in the house for what seems like forever! :( Do your best to keep them separated, not sharing sippies, pacis, etc... wash hands regularly, and hope for the best!

I hope you are still able to enjoy your vacation!

Every single time. If they aren't sick the same day, there is at most 3 days of separation. It's not always the same severity but it's always the same illness. I hope you luck out.

I've noticed they do catch things from each other most of the time within a few day. The season for it is upon us....

At our house one getting sick doesn't seem to mean both will get sick. Evan, miraculously has escaped James' colds (twice) and also his stomach flu.

Not in my house. My son tends to get sick more. All but one time he has been sick, my daughter did not get sick at all. The one time she did get sick, she was sick for 3 days and he was sick for nearly 2 weeks. I can't explain it.

Yes, it does for us.. in a couple days of each other. even to this day, it happens so frequently with us.

In my experience, yes. Both of mine used to get chronic ear infections back to back, and every time one of them has had a stomach virus the other has it too, and right now they both have cold symptoms. But I have 4, so I dont know if that makes a difference. My oldest DS hardly ever gets sick, but my 3 y.o DD has a cold right now too.
