Ok, so I have monochorionic diamniotic twins ( one placenta two sacs -which were seen repeatively on the hundreds of ultrasounds that I had....) and they are 2 months old. They are starting to look very different to me. One has a round head, one has a square head, and they are slightly different sizes. My husband keeps telling me that they are not identical because they do not look exactly the same. Is this common with identical twins? Ok, I am home alone all day with nothing but the babies to look at so maybe I am just getting picky.....

Head shapes and sizes don't really mean anything when it comes to genetics. A baby's head is so soft, just the way he lies in his crib can change it! And as for sizes, they don't always eat exactly the same amount, do they?

They have the same genes, but they are two different people. And rest assured, if there was one placenta, they ARE identical. But just in case, I think you should link us a picture. ;)

It could be because of the way they were positioned in the womb.

Yes. They're identical and WE (moms of ID's) all feel this way! It's universal :)

All ID twins moms are always convinced their babies don't look alike. But really, they do :D

ID does not mean they must look EXACTLY alike. They have ID genes, but that doesn't mean they have to look the same. Several different components come to play with physical similiaries. My ID twins look different. Alivea looks like me with a round face and Kaytlin looks like her daddy with an oval face. Granted most people can not tell them apart but to me, they look completely different.

Now that our ID girls (mono/mono) are getting older, some people say they are getting harder to tell apart but my husband and I were just saying last night that they are easier for us to tell now! We do have a small size difference and one's head is a little flat on one side. One also has more hair. I agree, sometimes they look so different, but they are identical if the were mono/di loved the pics :D

they're ADORABLE first of all! and they look ID to me. mine are mono/di and ivana was smaller for a while (born a pound smaller), and still has a slightly different head shape. and marina's cheeks are a little chubbier. their facial features are exactly the same, tho. but marina looks like me and ivana looks like dh. crazy, huh?

Your boys are soooo adorable! I love your site and all of the pics. :)
We have had the same feelings about our boys being ID (mono-di, as well - so we know they are ID, just have different "looks" about them), as their heads are shaped differently AND they have totally different expressions when they smile. So many people love to tell us they don't look alike. Sometimes, all we see are the differences and sometimes we mix them up for a moment. ;-)

Plus, we took the twinstuff FY ID/Frat picture test and it came out ID (just ask ivfbound.....;-)!!!

Keep posting picts as they grow. It's so fun to watch all of the babies on here grow and develop!
    Congratulations on your babies!!

We also had 1 placenta and 2 sacs and our girls have different head shapes to a certain extent. I can tell a difference in their faces, some others can and some can't. And ours are IDENTICAL too!

    first, they are soo cute!
Second, yes, I think all ID moms/dads (myself included) think our twins don't look alike. It's definitely the positioning in the womb as well.

They are so cute, and look very much alike to me. We would go back and forth about ours, so we did have them tested. They are indeed ID! :) :)
