Identical or not?

The whole time I was pregnant I had to have ultrasounds every 4 week because they said that my little girls shared a placenta, and so they would be identical now we get the results from the placenta and the docter says there is a chance that they are not identical. Has anyone ever had this happen? Everything seems the same about my little girls. When they were born Hope weighed 5lbs 13oz and Grace weighed 5lbs 11oz and they were both 18 inches. They have the same blood type and at 4 weeks they still weigh the same. What little hair they have is the same color & the ped said that their eyes are probably going to stay blue. So i am not sure, I am doing the dna test from proactive genetics.
It doesn't matter one way or the other except when people ask If they are identical I can say yes or no. I would post a picture but I am not sure how to do that.

Do you have the pictures uploaded to another site? If so, you can just provide us with a link to them.

I sure don't. I guess I am kind off computer illiterate. I have lots of pictures saved on my computer. Is there anyway to do an attachment.

If they shared a placenta, it is my understanding that they have to be identical. Maybe they found that the placentas had fused?

To add a link to a picture, go to a site like photobucket.com, create an account, upload your photo, copy the link that they give you, and then come back and paste the link in a post here.

Very cute! They look ID to me.

I had a fused placenta...looked like one but after tests it was actually two. STILL don't know if we are ID or not. Dont' want to spend the $$$ for the tests!

I couldn't help asking the same question the other day about my boys. I think your girls look ID. We're waiting on the genetics tests to come back also.

Your girls are so adorable, and I vote ID. BTW: I have the same outfits your DD are wearing in the first pic. They are so stinken cute. :)

When it comes to placentas a pathology report cannot tell you for sure if they are ID or not. If the placenta was indeed one then they're ID, but they can fuse together and appear to look like one (then theres a 25% chance of them being ID). They can do a pathology report and tell you to the best of their ability, but in the end a DNA test is the only way to know for sure. They may be saying that because they couldn't tell, so they thought they'd cover their tracks.

When I had my boy's it took a couple weeks to decide whether they were identical or Faternal. Even though they did share a placenta our doctors in the NICU said that the lab has to count the cells and see how they were divided? Don't really understand it, but that's what we were told. Much like you we didn't care, we just wanted to know. It came back that they were identical. But, now that they are going on their 4th birthday, they still look pretty much the same, but they have their differences, thats for sure!

We were told that our boys were ID based on a diagnosis of 1 placenta in utero. The OB announced at the birth that it did indeed look like 1 placenta. But within a few hours of birth, DH and I were convinced that the docs were all wrong. Sure enough, the pathology report came back that it was two fused placentas. Our boys are undeniably fraternal - different blood types.

BTW, about the eyes. Our boy's eyes didn't turn dark until 1 year. I'm still shocked to look at their infant pictures and see bright blue or green eyes. Neither have brown eyes per se. Aaron's are so dark green that they look brown. Jacob's are a tru hazel - mixture of blue, green and honey brown.

    I'd say ID's - weight & height don't matter.
My girls are ID and Drew weighs 2 lbs more and Shae is 1 inch taller!
You have some real Cutie pie's!!! :)
