identical or not

my wife and I are expecting our twin boys to arrive on sept.5th and we have had several ultrasounds and what we see is that they have their own sack,their own placentas are on their opposite sides,and the membrane is thin. Our doctor says they could be identical but she cant say for sure.....any thoughts on this????? thanx in advanx

 

My boys shared nothing, but got a zygosity test done and they are identical. So if they don't share a placenta they still could be identical.

I'm also having di/di twins, meaning they have their own placentas & own sacs. Mine are also boys. Even though it's a small chance, yes, there is a possibility they are identical. We'll know more at birth when we determine their blood types (if they're different, they're for sure fraternal, but if they're the same...again, we don't know). I don't know the true physics of it all, but the egg would have to split on certain days to create di/di identical twins. In my circumstance, I was on fertility drugs & closely monitored, so I KNEW I released 2 eggs...but even still, there's STILL a chance they're identical!

Your welcome! And yes this site is cool and addicting. Most of my posts I made while preggers. I just am so busy since they were born that I don't come on much.
