Does anyone have any good suggesitons about a gift for my boys for their first birthday from my husband and I? I'd rather not get them clothes or toys. We have two ride-on push with your feet cars that we received as hand-me-downs from my sister-in-law. I'm kind of stuck about what they'll need soon, but would still be a good gift for them.

OK...quick addition to my post. I just saw another post about a wagon and now I'm thinking about going down that route...but I'm still open to any other suggesitons. Any suggestions for wagons?

    Some thoughts:

*wagon (we have the Radio Flyer ATW, for the beach/park/trails)
    *table and chairs
*Kangaroo Climber (or other outdoor toys)

My babies got an early birthday present of the Radio Flyer Ultimate Family Wagon, and I'll tell you what - they LOVE it!!! We've had it about a week now & it's awesome. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a door that opens, but it hasn't really been a problem. We've already got a ton of use from it & it's only been a week.

The other thing they got today at their party that was cool were some of those swimsuits with life jackets built in.

We gave these ideas to family:

    - wagon
    - big kid shoes (right now they only wear robeez)
    - gift certificate to help decorate their rooms
    - gift certificate to help buy jogging stroller

I told DH that I wanted to open savings accounts in their names from us - he thought that was dumb.
I also suggested making a donation in their name to the Farmstead park in our area. It's huge and is a mecca for kids. He didn't want to do that either.

I think we're going to fund the rest of the money for the double jogger.

A personalized baby story book that tells about their birth. I got one for my singleton and plan to get one for the babes but I wish I could find them that talk about the other twin a little but worse comes to worse I will get them each the singleton one.

    Savings bonds.

Folks in my family contribute to the babies' savings accounts, which when the amounts get high enough are converted to CDs.

Though I like the wagon idea. =)

My girls bday is around the same as your boys, here's some of our ideas.

    Wagon (like mentioned)
    Inflatable pool
Swim suits w/ matching beach towels
Small inflatable ball pit with balls (for outside, they are fairly cheap)
    Swings

Were moving into a house in a week, and are going to have a backyard FINALLY, can you tell were excited lol?

I figure family and friends will bombard them with toys/clothes, so we will stick with things they can do outdoors since it will be summer.

Wow, I love the wagon suggstions that were posted. I've never seen wagons with canopies...very cool. I live in FL, so any extra sun protection is a plus. Thanks again!

One of our gifts was toyboxes....which they really needed. We also got them a wagon which they love and an outside slide.

We are planning to purchase a backyard wood playset in July. It will be a major expense; however, I think it will be nice to have right in our backyard. Santa brought them a wagon for Christmas . . . so cute!

Sorry to hijack ... at what age can you start using a wagon. Mine are 5 months old (born November) and I was hoping for this summer but I don't think they'll make it.

    Other ideas:
    - sand box (unless they still prefer to eat it)
    - my oldest loves her Pottern Barn Kids Anywhere chair ... personalized (get the regular sized, not the small one).

We did this when they were born but, you could do this for a 1st birthday gift. We opened CD's and saving accounts for them that we add to ,as well as, family members . We also paid off their college tuition with the Florida PrePaid College Fund. I did not look to see what state you were from but, maybe they have that kind of program for children.
