I was going through an old Parents magazine when I found this list of finger foods. This would have helped me tremendously when DS was little. He went through a phase of not wanting to be spoon-fed, but he couldn't feed himself with a spoon either. Everything he ate he had to be able to pick up. It was very frustrating. Anyway, I thought I would share this list and hope it helps someone.

    Whole grain couscous
    Cheerios
    Ripe mango or papaya (diced)
    Whole grain french toast
    Cooked green beans
Cooked (and peeled) white or sweet potato cubes
Cooked and diced zucchini or squash
    Mozzarella cheese
    Well-cooked asparagus tips
Sliced grapes (I'm a little wary of this one...)
    Mini rice cakes
Grilled cheese sandwich (cut into strips or cubes)
    Brown rice
    Ripe apricot
    Whole grain pancakes
    Tiny, well cooked broccoli florets
    Whole wheat macaroni and cheese
    Kiwi
Cucumber (peel, remove seeds, and slice)
    Well-cooked diced carrot
Whole grain toast with an all-fruit spread
Fruit cocktail (slice the cherries and grapes)
    Whole grain waffle
    Grated or shaved apple
    Small oranges, fresh (remove membranes)
Canned or very ripe fresh pears
    Banana
    Tiny chunks of turkey meatballs
    Matzoh crackers
    Shredded cheese or cheese crumbles
    Fork-smashed canned beans or chickpeas
    Graham crackers (plain)
Ripe honeydew, cantaloupe, or watermelon (remove seeds)
    Tofu
    Bites of a whole-grain muffin
    Pineapple
    Ripe peaches
    Cooked pearl barley

Feel free to add more! :D

Thanks--this is great. We aren't there yet (just started solids, actually); but this will be a great resource. Obviously, I don't have any experience with this myself yet; but I have friends who have also given the precooked packed fish fillets cut into small pieces and string cheese. And a friend of mine buys the frozen cut fruit by the bag to use which saves her some time and is easier than trying to keep fresh produce around all the time, at least for certain things that go downhill fast.

Thanks for putting this up there, I'll be needing it soon, especially since my DD got her hands on a piece of spaghetti (the babies insist on sitting in at dinner)...eeek!
