So, I've read 'average twin birth by gestation is 36-37 weeks'. So half over half under....

But, I would love to know what gestation people delivered at. And perhaps, by chorionicity, etc. Perhaps a continuing Stikky/poll?

    What do other people think?

    We do have this sticky.

There are 3 links once you get there:

    -Birth weight chart for twins

    -NICU stays by gestation

    -gestational weights via u/s

Is that something like you were thinking of?

Those stikkys are great! And I do see that the birth weight has some gestational age data : D I was actually just wondering about something very simple that we could fill out, that includes the type(s) of twinning, (because I am wondering if they might be different?) like an ongoing poll for:

    Mono/Mono- gestational age at delivery

Mono/Di - gestational age at delivery

Di/Di - gestational age at delivery

Silly, I know... but I like to see real-world experiences vs. general papers on teh internet ;)

Actually those charts were compiled by stats provided by fellow TS members.

Would it be OK if I started a poll? Is there any protocol I should follow?

A poll actually won't give you any answers as you wouldn't be able to tell which answers corresponded. The last time we did it, it really took many months to gather and compile the data and then someone had to manually do the statistics incorporating all the individual responses. It is no easy task.

Easiest way would be to set up a relational SQL database and a web UI. Pre script the database querries and link them to web buttons and you could get results on the fly as the data is added. Heck, you could parse the data however you like once it’s in the DB.
Of course it would be dependant on an appropriate server location to host the database and on someone taking the time to build it, and the UI. Might be worth doing in the long term, but probably not something that could be thrown together in short order. Hardest part would be integrating with the existing site, unless you wanted to host it independently and just link to it.

Why can't we just do a poll that has three questions?: 1. mono/mono gestation at birth. 2. mono/di gestation at birth. 3. di/di gestation at birth. Each multiple choice answer can be a week from say 24 weeks to 40 weeks. I checked and you are allowed that many multiple choices per question, so I think it would work. What do you think?

I think it would be helpful. I know I read a lot of this information posted and have to wonder if those babies were mo/mos, mono/dis or di/dis and sometimes information does not cross all lines. I know the gestational age is one of the biggest and most debated issues and is different for each class of twins based upon what issues that may arise for each.

No need to aplogize, I was just giving you a hard time. My DH is an IT guy, so whenever I hear him on the phone I have no idea what he is saying. As a linguistics teacher, I find it fascinating how a new language has emerged..
