I was reading the things I wish knew about C-Sections and I am wondering if the hospital I am delivering at will let me keep the twins in the nursery at night? With DS the only time he went into the nursery was when I wasn't going to be in my room other then that your baby stayed with you no matter what. I wonder if the same rules apply when you have a C-Section and twins. I am definetly going to ask my doctor about that at my next appointment. Anyone elses hospital like that?

I never had a singleton but at my hospital they strongly pushed that I keep them but when I asked them to take them in the nursery because I wasn't feeling so hot, they took them (only to bring them back two hours later because I missed them  ) Definately ask if your hospital will, I'm sure they have to do something, especially if you aren't feeling well.

I have delivered at 2 different hospitals and both had the policy that you could either keep the baby(ies) in the room with you or in the nursery. I've never heard of one making you keep them in your room with you, that seems like a strange policy to me. Most do push for them to stay in the nursery to Mom can get some rest.

I think this varies according to the hospital. The hospital where DS was born was very much for having babies in the room. The only time DS was in the nursery was for 1 hour for observation while they were stitching me up after the c-section. Otherwise he was in my room all the time except for 10-15 minutes for a daily weight check.

I know for the hospital I deliver at, the only time the baby or babies go to the nursery is if they are sick, or mom is sick. With my son he never left my side.

At my hospital they wouldn't let me keep DS in my room after I had a c-section unless DH (or someone else) spent the night with me. DH did, of course, and we kept him :)

I think all of the Edmonton hospitals would let you have the babies in the nursery if needed, with the exception of the Sturgeon, since they don't really have a nursery like the other hospitals do. I could be wrong though, so it's best to ask.

I think in ours they usually want you to take the baby but I don't know about twins. Probably unless they are in the NICU here I would imagine.

We kept the babies in the room with us unless it was only going to be me in the room the first 24 hours. WIth Evan, the nursery was offered, but we declined. I would ask what hospital policy is.

Mine were in the nicu...but I can't imagine having them with me the first night. I was all drugged up, and they wouldn't let me sit up becasue of the spinal, and I had a catheter in. There is no way I could have cared for them.

My hospital will take them to the nursery and I fully intend to take full advantage of that. I want them brought to me for feedings but otherwise I plan to let the nurses take care of them during the night while I'm in the hospital so that I can get some much-needed rest and recover from the c-section.

Both my singletons - at different hospitals in different cities - stayed in the nursery at night during after both c-sections. The choice was mine in both cases - nursery vs. rooming in. I am a bottle girl, so I opted for sleep since it was not necessary for me to be awake to feed them ...

Thank you guys! That makes me feel better. I know that no one will be staying with me in the hospital at all since I am not with their dad and have no idea if he plans on even being there at all and my mom, who will be with me for the delivery, has to come home and make sure that my son gets to school and is looked after incase his dad is working out of town. I am a bottle person too. I opted out of breastfeeding since I never did get my milk with my son. So maybe they will keep them in the nursery even if I have a vaginal delivery so I can get a night of rest.
