DH and I got to talking last night about the names we had chosen, and we are dead set on the middle names being Nicole and James (my first name and DH's middle name ((After his grandfather)) ), but now we started a whole new list of names and now we like way too many for us to decide. My sister in law asked me what the names we had picked out for the baby shower and I said you have to wait and see if we change our minds.

The names we were dead set on after finding out were Alyssa (Lissy) Nicole and Nathan (Nate) James

But I told DH on the phone during his lunch break that I was going to post about this here and see if you all can help us out. :) So here's the list we narrowed it down to. We are also wanting names where the kids will have shorten nicknames.

    Girl Names:
    Alyssa Nicole (Lissy)
    Alexis Nicole (Lexi)
    Katelyn Nicole (Katie/Kate)
    Katherine Nicole (Katie/Kate)
Madeline Nicole (Madi) ((I think we have ruled this one out))
    Abigail Nicole (Abby)

    Boy Names:
    Nathan/Nathaniel James (Nate)
    Matthew James (Matt)
    Gabriel James (Gabe)
    Tyler James (Ty)
    Andrew James (Andy)
    Daniel James (Danny)

    The Combos We Have Picked:
    Alyssa/Nathan
    Alexis/Tyler
    Abigail/Gabriel
    Abigail/Daniel
    Katelyn/Matthew
    Katherine/Tyler

Thats all we have going at the moment. Plz help! I was dead set on Alyssa and Nathan, but it looks like it might change.

Edited: My brain is dead at the moment. Its my first name and Dh's middle name.

I love Abigail and Gabriel. I think they are both beautiful names. If one of my babies were a girl we were gonna call her Abby. Katelyn and Matthew are nice too. :)

I have a Gabriel myself, so I'm partial to that name ;) I thin k Nathan is my second favorite though. As far as girls go, I like Alyssa or Abigail equally, although if it were me and I chose Gabriel, I probably wouldn't choose Abigail since they are similar (but that can be cute, too...depends on you!) Either way, you guys have great names picked out -- good luck!!

I like Abigail and Daniel but I think
Kaitlyn and Daniel would be cute too, Katie and Danny.

Don't really like Lissy or Nate as nicknames. Sorry.
Good luck and hope you two decide on something you can both agree on.
I always say though, what a blessing to have the 'trouble' of naming TWO babies!

I like Abigail and Gabriel. Twinny but not rhymy, cute for kids and usable as adults... everything a great name (2 great names) need to have!
I wanted Abigail for Ella, but we didn't want matchy initials and had already an Alexander!

First of all, let me say that I love all of your name choices! Very pretty!

Is the popularity of the name important to you? I have an Emily. When I named her I had no idea that Emily was the most popular name in the U.S.! There were lots of other Emilys in her school. In case you haven't checked, here is the popularity ranking for babies born in 2007 for each name according to the Social Security Administration:

    Girl Names:
    Alyssa #14
    Alexis #19
    Katelyn #75
    Katherine #39
    Madeline #61
    Abigail #8

    Boy Names:
    Nathan #24/Nathaniel #82
    Matthew #9
    Gabriel #28
    Tyler #21
    Andrew #10
    Daniel #5

All of the names you've chosen are in the Top 100, so your kids will most likely have other children in their classes with the same name. That's not a big deal to some parents but a huge deal to others. Personally I had no problem with that myself (my name was one of the most popular names when I was born) but I hated always being "Kathy S" and not just "Kathy" even to my friends, because there were so many other Kathys/Cathys in my circle of friends. As I mentioned, I would not have chosen my daughter's name if I had known how popular it was at the time.

If you want to check the popularity of other names, the SSA website is http://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/babynames/
I think it's really fun to see the lists each year. You can also check a name's popularity ranking for any year since 1879.

With that said, I like the following names and combinations in this order:
Alexis & Matthew (Lexi & Matt)
Abigail & Gabriel (Abby & Gabe)
Alyssa & Nathan (Lyssy & Nate)

    Best of luck to you!

I was going to have an Abigail (Abby), but we didn't get any girls to keep. So that's my favorite of your girls names. BTW, the meaning is precious too, my Father rejoices. TOO sweet!
As for boys names, you have some REALLY good ones there! Gabriel is good and goes well with Abigail. And their nicknames wouldn't be similar, so easy for them to know who you are calling. ;) I like Nathan (Nate), and Andrew (Andy) too. Just as a side note, a very dear person to my family was a Andrew James, very close to my heart. Andrew has many nicknames to chose from too, Andy, Drew, and AJ. So he would have choices later in life. I Like Daniel (one of my twins middle names) and like Danny as a nickname, but personally don't like Dan. Which as an adult he could use. But, that's just me. You may LOVE that.
    Congratulations!!! It's so much fun!

BTW, we couldn't decide until they were born for 3 days. I knew first names, but couldn't choose middles. And then I second guessed Jesse's name and wouldn't let DH decide. Ultimately, He choose Joshua's full name and I choose Jesse's. But we both liked them. It gets crazy sometimes with all the meds in the hospital. :D
