i thought my water broke...

So at 4:30 this morning, when I woke up to go to the bathroom, I was leaking a little bit. I haven't had a lot of urine leakage, and this was more than just a few drops, so I thought 'this could be my water breaking...'. I looked at the clock and decided not to wake DH, to just wait for another hour and see what happened. I also grabbed my closest maternity book "What To Expect When You're Expecting" and it said that if your water breaks it continues until you deliver and that more will come out if lie down.

I went back to bed, and trying to fall back asleep, couldn't really tell if the drip, drip, drip was happening. But I figured I wouldn't sleep anyway. Bottom line - my water didn't break.

But this morning, I know two things: #1. I need to finish up some things today, in case it does happen before my scheduled C on Friday. #2. I am really, really ready mentally for these boys to get here!

And here is my question to you all: Will I have control of my bladder after the babies are born? Is this just the pressure and weight of them pushing on it? I can't live like this!

 

Hi there, just becuase it didn't continue to leak does not mean that it wasn't your water breaking....if the bag has a small tear on the top....it may drip out a littl at a time depending on your position and also the postion of the babies inside! so don't discount that. be prepared...I would definately get things done....and wear a thick pad if you go anywhere!!!! keep a towel covering your seats in the car...all of that good stuff...I can't wait to hear your birth story!!

After I had the babies, I still had the cath in for 24hrs. I have to admit I loved having it b/c it was sooooo nice not to have the feeling of constantly having to pee and getting up a gazillion times to do it. Then after that, I kept thinking that I wasn't going enough b/c I was sooo used to going every hour at least. Especially in the middle of the night. So, after I had them, the having to go decreased a lot, and no leakage.

Have you had anymore "dripping" today? Usually if you lay down for awhile, if it's amniotic fluid, it will pool, and when you stand up, it will trickle or gush out. If you aren't completely sure make the trip to L/D because if you have ruptured you don't want to wait too long.

But, I had major leakage especially with Hannah. My allergies were terrible with her, and I sneezed constantly, which made me pee! I wore a pad everywhere! It did go away for the most part with delivery.

 

i haven't dripped anymore. i did lie down for a nap and nothing happened when i got up. also, i did call my OB and she said it could be the beginning of my mucous plug. that surprised me, as i thought it would be mucous. i'm keeping an eye on it. no consistant contractions, so for now, i'm clear.
