    I...
    • put Evan down awake MOST of the time.
    • didn't nurse him to sleep most of the time.
    • was teaching him to go to sleep on his own, I thought.
    • eta: Seldom put him in the swing to get him to sleep.
But, now he has been giving me fits about going to sleep!!! He's been up since 8:00 and it is noon now. He is tired, but won't go down. :( I thought I was doing it right this time (vs twins). I've given him some tylenol for possible teething. He has a dry diaper and his tummy is full. Why won't my little guy sleep!

Ok, this is more of a vent. I get 4 hours, tuesdays and thursdays to myself and Evan while the twins are in preschool. I need this time to regroup. Evan generally sleeps through at least half of it. Not today. :( He's been a needy child!!! I guess at least he slept in this morning.
Sorry .. just needed to type it out. I thought I was doing it right.

eta: It is 1:00 and he is STILL awake.. been in the swing for a bit.. normally it knocks him right out! This nap thing has been going on for the past few days.. this is just the longest that he's fought it.

    Have you tried swaddling him?

It was around this time that my girls started fighting sleep as well. At 6mo I dropped them to 2 naps and they did great!!

Hopefully its just one of those days!!

No worries, you're doing it right! But, anyone can have an off day. It stinks that it has to be during YOUR free time -- ugh. Hope he sleeps extra long for you later today....

He's always in a blanket.. so he is pseudo swaddled (bottom half). I seldom had to full swaddle him from birth like I had to do with the twins.

Ugh...I am sorry! I have been having nap difficulties this past week. I feel so OVERWHELMED when I don't have a free moment to myself to get anything done around the house!

Please sleep for your mommy, little Evan ;)

Ok, now you know I feel guilty for venting about my SINGLE baby and a lot of you have two times the frustration.

I did a little CIO (swaddled him full) and he is asleep. Whew!

He'll get back to his normal routine [I hope]. Either that, or you'll create a different routine for the both of you. Either way, it will work out in the end. Maybe he's just having a bad week.

Rose wasn't wanting to nap today either. I actually just got back from rocking her to sleep.. I'm not looking forward to those days where they continuously fight naps. Makes EVERYONE cranky..

Mine went thro fighting naps at around 5months, I did do some CIO, and after a few weeks they were back to napping better. I also like you did everything "right" and was extremely consistent, but sometimes the babies just have other plans. Keep being consistent and keep with doing everything "right" and he will go back to napping again, it is probably just a phase, maybe he is working on sitting up, crawling etc!

It sounds like you are doing everything that you possibly can to teach Evan good sleep habits. There's only so much you can do, everyone has days when they can't sleep. I hope he naps better for you today.
