I think we are off to the hospital...

If I thought I was going to lose it before, now I am really going to lose it.

Julia has pretty much refused to eat. Her intake is about 9-10 ounces if that. Yet, she is just sitting there kicking away. She will latch on but the milk just sits in her mouth, she will not swallow. I have tried EVERY formula there is and she will take it (I know it takes at least a week, but we don't have a week!). I also noticed that she does not cry and is making very little noises. She did have a wet diaper this morning. We did give her a little water as well, she needs something.

    Something is so wrong :(

I have a dr. appt in a half an hour and I am going to demand some further testing. The stress level in our house is through the roof and I just cannot imagine how Julia can go on like this. I didn't sleep at all last night trying to give her food asleep but she wouldn't have it.

I'd take back the sleepless nights over this any day.

I am so sorry-dealing with a sick child is so heartbreaking especially when you cant get them to eat and you KNOW they need to. I know you must be feeling scared and stressed. I hope you get some good help at the doctors. Keep us informed, your little Julia is in my prayers!

We went through this with our DD. She was a preemie though. We ended up going to the hospital where she underwent testing for 3 weeks and nothing came up. She had to be tube fed in the end and she still is. It's been about 7 months since her g-tube was placed (she's a year and a month old) and we do intensive feeding therapy and it is not working yet because the tube feeding made her hypersensitive in her mouth so now she won't take anything by mouth.

I hope everything works out in the end! We took her to the hospital when she absolutely ate nothing all day :(

Here I am, with Julia....at home.

She continues to gain weight, looks great and I am crazy. I was standing there in dr. office (a different Dr. again) in tears. She took 3 ounces for the Dr. with no crying, burped and made me look like an idiot.

I am speechless. I seriously do not know what is going on. She said to feed her when ever and whatever she wants. It could be that she has a bug and doesn't want to eat. Feed her as much cereal with extra formula that she wants but to not force any feedings. Thankfully there is no fluid in her lungs and is not dehydrated.

We do have an appt tomorrow for her upper GI.

And me.....well between needing some heavy alcohol (actually I don't and never drink) and my own personal evaluation I'm trying to figure out what the heck is gong on.

Kelly, :hug99: I wish I had an answer for you. I know that when I was going through reflux with my son, he did the same exact thing you are describing your dd doing. The docs didn't believe me either because he was gaining weight, etc. The only thing was that he wouldn't eat at their office either, so that made them listen to me. I'm sorry you have to go through this because I understand how completely frustrating it is. :hug99: You know we are always here if you need someone to listen. Let us know how tomorrow goes. :love0028:

You are not crazy. Babies/kids will always make a liar out of you in front of the docs! :hug99:

Your posts are almost identical to what I was going through with my twins around the same age and the culprit was reflux. Things got better when we finally got their meds right. Good luck at the GI appointment. :hug99:

Reflux was our culprit too. You are NOT crazy. I hope things get better real soon and you get some answers from the upper GI. :hug99:

I'm so glad you didn't end up in the hospital. I hope you get some help tomorrow. :hug99: You are not crazy. My kids have done things like that before at the dr. office. Makes you feel crazy, but better that than worried so much. :hug99:

I hope you get the answers you are looking for tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that she took some more formula for the doctor at least. I know how frustrating it can be when your child won't eat for you. My DD went through a phase where she would only eat for DH and it made me feel like a horrible, incompetent mother. Now things are the exact opposite and she won't eat for her dad. Things will get better and you all will be in my thoughts.

Good luck! Please keep us posted--so many of us have poor eaters, but it helps to have a clear diagnosis. Good for you for fighting for the GI!
