I think they understand me!

I'm so excited that the girls actually seem to understand what we say and respond to us. They'll hand us things when we ask them too, they hold my hands really well when we walk outside (mostly), and they are starting to understand the word "wait!" so I can put one down and tell her to wait while I deal with the other (this is awesome for buckling into the stroller). Other commands that they respond to are "Come here" and "Get down" (unfortunately my girls appear to be climbers which is going to drive me batty, but I will get over it I guess).

Isn't it great to see how the wheels turn? One of the major ones I taught as soon as I realized they were comprehending was "STOP" and I even hold my hand up open meaning stop. This comes in very handy when I take them to the park or something and they know when I yell stop or if they look at me and my hand is up they immediately freeze.

The learning comes fast an furious now!!

it is great!! I love this age! My girls are climbers too (well, Ava mostly) and it is driving me batty!!! my boys left a ladder up against the barn the other day and while I was walking to the feed bucket (I had turned for 1 minute!!) Ava was at the TOP of the ladder  !! and she can climb the stairs faster than a speeding bullet!

The language thing has been SO fascinating - seeing what they understand and what they came out with when they start really talking.

Lately they have been answering our questions about more astract things: Q: "What did you do at daycare today?" A: "Mr. Potato Head!!" or "Played with puppets!!"

Or they explain themselves... Sam says: "Want the bear!!!" Mom: What bear? I don't know where it is." Sam: "On the bureau." :icon_eek:

It just blows me away when they can communicate with you and you get a window into their minds and what they are thinking.

That's awesome Leighann! It is really really neat! And when they start to talk back and say things like "Thank you" and "I love you" it is so amazing.

The one I have noticed lately is "it is time to eat!" and they frantically race for the highchairs! They also know "come here" but sadly they respond by turning the other way and crawling/walking as fast as they can the other direction giggling all the way!! :p Oh my naughty babies!
