    Hi
Hannah woke up Sun AM feeling a little warm-101 gave her some tylenol. She was fussy but I figured she was not feeling well. She ate mostly formula, but some babay food. Temp hovered around the 101 range, never went higher than 101.8-taken by the ear therm. Mon she was fussy only when tired and was eating fine had low grade temp around 100.8-so I thought teething. She did put her fingers in her ear, but only when tired, she rubs her head to sooth herself to sleep and somtimes this includes her ears. Tues and Wed no temp-fussy around sleeping time. So I thought since using the orajel she was asleep in 5 min that she was cutting her molars. Then tonight it hit me when putting Hannah down for bed she would scream-at bed(5 pm sleep) maybe she has an ear infection. Now I'm feeling really bad-I thought she was over tired from the teeth. Since Mon night she stays up with me till 7:30, 8 pm and I thought that maybe she had a bad habit. So going to call pedi tom and get her checked out just to be on the safe side. Would hate to go through the weekend like this. Our instructions per pedi on fevers is nothing under 101.5 is considered a temp and if there are no other factors-vomiting, turning blue, and other examples then watch the fever for 24 hours and give tylenol or Motrin and see how things go.
I wish they had gages on them to tell us what is wrong! Poor baby! Thanks for listening.

Dont feel bad. My kids (my 3 year old and my 15 month old) dont show any signs of ear infections except being crabby till there ear drum is so red and petruding that its about to rupture. Now when I call the pedi and I say they have an ear infection because they are crabby they dont laugh at me they just get them in.
Ear infections are tricky since most of the usuall symptoms can be associated with something else like being overtired or teething.

Tracy, don't feel bad! My first would get ear infections with barely any symptoms at all. It's so hard to tell what's wrong when they can't tell you. Hope she is feeling better soon. :hug99:

    Tracy,
Mattie is the same way. She never runs a fever, hardly ever plays with her ear, the only way I ever "think" she has an infection is if she is ever extra whiney or clingly. So I usually take her then and sure enough she has one.

I've never been able to tell if my kids have an ear infection until they scream and hold their ear. I'll take a heat pad and lay it over their ear, if they stop crying and feel better then I know it's an ear infection! So don't feel bad, they hardly have any symptoms!

I never knew when DD had an ear infection. She never pulled or tugged or even touched her ear. The only way I had an idea was from a runny nose. She never cried, ran a temp...nothing. Just a runny nose.

Took Hannah to pedi today. Everything is fine. He suspects she had a virus and she getting over it, maybe has a headache or body ache. If she still fussy after 10 days to bring her back. Tonight was the 1st night since Sat she has gone down to sleep at 5:30 Thanks goodness! :) Thanks for all your replies.

Everytime I've taken them in thinking they have an ear infection, mine never do. Lily's only ever had one, Grace none. My girls pull at their ears and run a fever when teething, which always makes me think they have one. I wait it out a while before taking them in. Once congestion starts, I doubt myself, take them in, and never an infection.

It's hard to figure all this out!
