I’m not sure if I posted in expecting (I think I did in the parent forum)… but to give you background of the situation… I use to have a Nanny for 9 years (she started when my son was 3 months old)… then she had family issues back home and went back to be with her Dad in his final days, and I never heard from her… I got quite worried, but got no were trying to find her… well this all happen last summer… I found out a month after she went MIA I was expecting twins…
Well I THOUGHT finding a new nanny would be as easy as it was fining her… I knew I would have to interview a lot to find the “right one” so I started the first week of January… I knew with it being twins (plus the occasional 10 year old) that I would have to pay more… but every time I mentioned twin boys… they ran… but I kept my thoughts positive and kept reminding myself, everything happens for a reason, and my perfect Nanny will need a new job when I need her, and after seven interviews this weekend alone…. I found one! It was the first time all 3 of us agreed… my husband and my son both said they liked her the moment I shut the door after she left…. So I called and offered her part time until the babies come and the week the babies are born, she will start full time, so tomorrow is her first day… I hope I’m not building this up too much and she is the new family member we were looking for

Thanks for reading my life story ;) ,

A good nanny is so important! We only have a part timer who comes 1 day a week plus one night for babysitting (she is a student and she works part time at another family's, we cannot afford to have her more than that right now).
She is a star, when I had Ella she was here for all of us, taking care of the boys, of me and my DH by cooking meals and cleaning and then she was an expert baby nurse too. She worked more days during the summer. I really like her, and my kids adore her. Ella screeches in happiness when she comes in the door, the boys beg me to have her over more often and as Ollie said: "I have one mommy, one daddy, 2 granmas, 2 grandpas, a brother, a sister and a nanny!"
She is part of our family!

I hope yours turns out to be as good as ours, ours just felt right the moment she came for her interview and didn't sit on the chair next to me, but on the floor with the boys and answered all my questions while she built lego monsters.
    Good luck, Millie

That's great. I found my nanny back in January. She use to be my sister's nanny. She will start a few weeks before I return to work. Good Luck with yours!

Good luck and I hope all works out well with her. There is something to say about a gut feeling!

We just hired a part-time nanny as well. She will be here two days a week to play with, take care of and entertain our two older sons so I can focus on the babies. She starts in two weeks. She is also a college student and might possibly move in with us this summer to help out. We also got the great feeling the instant she walked in the door. She was helping with the boys during her interview and playing with them and she was the first one that they didn't hide from (they are 21 months and 4 years old).

    Best wishes!!!

Sounds good! I'm curious, what will you have her do part time til the babies come? This has been our big question, when to hire a nanny. I know I will need one this summer and I'd like to have her in place before they are born.

Well we have a ton of organizing that needs to be done, plus I hope her and my son will bond in the next month so he will feel comfortable just hanging with her when the new dudes arrive. But we are paying extra for someone willing to do housekeeping during down time… our new Nanny has been in this country 19 years and when she first arrived she was a house keeper for a Marriott out this way, and worked her way up to head of housekeeping… then she started to Nanny so she can have her weekend back when her daughter was born (her daughter is now 15). But my husband sees it as paying to make sure (insurance)… if she doesn’t turn out awesome, we will have time to replace her and not have to stress… but that’s not gonna happen, we are thinking positive thoughts!!!!
