I swear, they have no fear...

my two can climb now, but they have NO common sense or understanding of pain or fear! I have honestly enjoyed the crawling, talking, and walking stages, but I despise the climbing stage!

I found DD on top of her slide standing (which is only about 1.5 feet off the ground), and I told her to sit down (which she has always done in the past), but this time she did not, she proceeded to try and WALK down the slide! Ugh - needless to say that ended badly for her.

I found DS standing (balancing himself precariously) on the arm of our couch today. Luckily I got to him before he fell - but good gosh, when are they going to learn?

Meara climbed on a table to climb up on the kitchen counter. I nearly had a heart attack.

Both of my girls are climbers as well!! I definitely feel your pain. I have to say though, now that this climbing phase has been going on for a while they are finally starting to realize that if they climb on something and fall, it hurts! So I think that has curbed the climbing a bit. Good Luck!

Mine are climbers too and have no fear whatsoever. One day I found DS standing on an end table. I had to do a double take, he was just standing there and smiling at me. I did not make a fuss, I just gently picked him up and put him back down, I didn't even know what to say!

I know what you mean about fear. The only thing Eli is afraid of is loud noises, and Mark is afraid of nothing.

Somebody gets hurt every day in this house. They usually get goose eggs on their heads, and I have to keep the flashlight readily available to check for concussions.

My guys started climbing before they even walked..climbing the da*n Superyard. What's also crazy now that they've been walking for over 2 months is they are actually falling more often. It's because they try to run and don't look where they are going.

I tell you this age is totally exhausting (and they still don't STTN).

Flashlight? hmmm...how do you check for concussions with a flashlight? - I think maybe I need to learn this skill!

Mine aren't climbing yet - but I can see that look in their eyes, it is coming. <_<

Rachel, those boys - what are they doing to their Momma!??! Maybe this means that teenage years will be smooth sailing! You can hope, right?

My boys have recently starting the climbing thing but one of the first times I had saw Colin climb was when he was 10 months old. I looked over and he was standing on top of a Sit and Spin. If you know what I am talking about then you know the top of it is just enough to get his little feet onto. Luckily it was the only time he did this.

I'll find it on the internet and add another post. It's a first aid technique every parent of small child should know.
