Yesterday, I took the girls to daycare for the time. I didn't cry but I felt like I was going to throw up. I was so nervous. I didn't know what to expect since Madison will sometimes cry just looking at someone strange. Luckily I had a very good first impression with the girls in their infant room and I really liked the girl that was assigned to my girls. Also, my girls didn't cry - they were to busy looking around at all the new toys and other babies in the room. She was around my age, had kids of her own and seemed energetic. She was very nice. Next week I'm going to work full time. The will be going to daycare 2 days a week and then my MIL will continue to watch them 3 days. I wanted to start them this week when I'm still at home those 2 days and have them go 1/2 a day. I just hung out for an hour getting to know their care taker. When I left Tanya (their care taker) was holding Madison and Claire was sitting in a bumbo seat with a boy in front of her and boy behind her. I left and went shopping. I felt a little better since meeting the girls in their room but it was still hard. I spent a lot of money but that's how I coped with it. (I did get some really nice bedding for our room and the guest room, along with a new purse and a little infant to toddler rocking chair for them).

I made myself wait 2 hours and then I called. Tanya said they were really doing great. They ate, played and then took naps. What?! I didn't expect that. She said they were playing again and still doing great. So, I picked them up after lunch and Tanya was holding Claire and Claire was smiling at Tanya. Madison was city in a little baby activity center playing. When I got there, I thought they'd be really excited to see me. Claire smiled at me but Madison was so engrossed with her toy that when I bent down and said her name she ignored me and then I turned her set toward me and she turned her head back towards what she was playing with. I did feel good that they really seemed to like there with the other babies and all the new toys. They also ate really good, which surprised me considering all of the distractions around.

I know we will have days where not everything will go smoothly but I'm really happy with my choice to send them there.

:clapping: YAY girls!! (and YAY to you too...I know that must have been hard!)
I am glad they had such a great first day :good:

I am heading back to work for 2 days a week soon & am petrified of leaving the girls, so your experience really makes me feel better :)

I'm so glad to hear things went well...I'll be returning to work Nov. 3 and depending on when we get into our daycare, I'm going to start to take them in October--and like you, my biggest fear is how they will do there. I'm trying to prepare myself that the first few weeks will be tough until we all get into a new routine. Luckily, the place is an onsite daycare at work so I can pop in whenever I want to check them out.

I hope things continue going well, and good luck going back to work!

Congrats on surviving the first day! It gets easier. I did cry our first day. I thought I would make it out ok but then J looked at me as I was leaving and burst into tears. I couldn't keep it together but didn't want to make it worse on my girls. Two months down the road, they greet their teachers like old friends and it's very reassuring.

Aw, that first day is always so hard. I'm glad you had a good experience for the first day. I hope they continue to do well!

I know there will be days that won't be so easy but it's like that at home too. This just proves that they will be just fine. I'm just going to look at it like I'm taking them to a playdate with lots of other babies. I'm just not sticking around. Just wanted to share because I know others will soon be taking their babies for the first time and I hope this helps you relax some. I know it will still be hard and it will still be hard on me to take them on Friday but I think they are really going to like it there with all of the other babies and new toys to play with.
