I truly do not want to deal with DD's hysterical screaming every time I try to rinse her hair coupled with trying to hold onto a slippery, soapy toddler who is trying to climb out of the tub.

So I am hanging out at twinstuff instead to delay the inevitable ;)

Mine go through this every so often. It's been getting better though. We try to make it into a game-time/light play-time for bedtime making it fun. I'm already pooped by that time and just don't want to deal with it. I'm so thankful for DH - he's home around bed time for the girls so I just make him deal with the bath part, then they come to me to get dried off and dressed.

How did it go? Mine went through that around the 12-15 month mark, but it's definitely gotten better since then!

I think we really downplayed hairwashing at that age, maybe 2x a week? :)
It also seemed to help if we either gave them a washcloth to hold over their eyes, or if we just did it quick and got it over with.
    This too shall pass!

Unless they're dirty, they don't need a bath every night. I say skip it. I can't bathe my girls more than twice/week or their exzema gets miserable. Sometimes we suffer through because they get really dirty and need it. But that's pretty rare.

My one daughter slipped in the tub a few months ago and we went through a horrible few weeks to get her back into the tub. She was so freaked out she would stand and cling to my neck. We got a great non slip mat to start with, should have done that from the start but I didn't think about it. Also we were using a small plastic cup to rinse their hair until I got a large pitcher from Toys R Us that has one side thats a soft silicone. The idea is that you can mold it to the forhead and get the water tipped back so it isn't all in their faces. It actually works pretty good and we get it all rinsed in one or two swoops. We bath every other night and it is getting a bit better now that they seem to want to play and splash more in the water. We are asking Santa for some bath toys for Christmas :)

    Well, we survived!

We are on a twice a week bathing schedule (sometimes less). But when they come home from school (twice a week), they are FILTHY. The school has an awesome outdoor "natural" playground but you can imagine what my kiddos look like after rolling around in the dirt and grass.

The problem I have with the cup is that it still runs into her eyes when I do the *top* of her head. I think I'm gonna get a visor or goggles for her. DS has learned to close his eyes when it is time to rinse, but DD is not getting it and she is too young to learn to cover her eyes with a washcloth. If I had two more hands, I would be all set.

And it is so nice to hear that I am not the only infrequent bather on this board. My mom used to bathe me every single night. And my brother too!

One thing that helped a little with my DD when she was a bath hater was to let her rinse her hair under the faucet. I'd help her lean her head back and gently move her head around under the water. Because it came out in a steady stream, it was less likely to get in her eyes than with her wiggling while I poured a cup over her head. Like I said, it helped a little. Mostly it just took time.

    Same here!

My daughter creates such a hysteria that I have to hold her and rock her after the bath since she gets so worked up. I tried to do quick vs long baths or shower and nothing works, she just hates it. Glad to know I am not the only one with kids that don't like bathing.

Also not a frequent bather here. 2x week or sometimes once during winters. They stay home so don't get that dirty but during summer, it everyday.

We still do twice a week baths. They're really not that dirty most of the time. :)
