I never realized....

OKay, so all of you know how HARD it is to eat your meals in peace with twinfants around. You're eating a bite here, a bite there, all the while answering to the many demands of, "I want more mommy... I need juice. I need papertowel, I need, I need, I need....." You get the picture, you've all been there! :)

We have the twins and their 18 month old sibling, so we are REALLY eating as quickly as we can between demands, issues and everythin else going on.

I did not realize this however until the other morning when we had a breakfast meeting at work. I was scarfing down my French Toast so fast and didn't even realize it until the chic I was sitting with started looking, I mean REALLY looking, at me, and then my plate, and then me again! LOL Poor girl must've thought that that was my first meal in DAYS..... LMAO It didn't help that I really hadn't had any breakfast yet that morning (it was 7:45) and I had been up since 4:30 with the kids! usually I'll get SOMETHING (waffle, bagle, toast, COFFEE...) before we go to work but that day I was rushing to make the meeting in time.

 Does she have kids? If not you should have scared her and told her this is what happens when you have them. :diablo:

I totally know what you mean. I used to take my time with meals but now I eat so quickly. I try to slow down, but it's a conscious effort and I have to remind myself to put the fork down between bites when I'm out with other adults. Sad, huh?

I have to eat lunch in 20 minutes at school and then eat like a mad woman at home, too. I swear when the kids get older I'm eating in super slow motion and if they complain I'm going to tell them that this is pay back for all the times I had to eat my meals in nanoseconds :D

I do exactly the same thing! Some days I would sell my soul just to eat a long, delicious meal in peace without somebody constantly dropping their fork, wanting a wipe, whining for bites of what I'm having (even when it's identical to what they're having), etc.

 I can totally relate. DH and I went out to dinner the other night. (Long over due!) We both scarfed our meals....didn't even realize it until we were done! We thought it was funny, but it was like DANG it is such a habit now. We don't even stop and enjoy our meals when we go out anymore. It was an eye opener for sure.

LOL And the funny thing is, I think my MIL does this EXACT Thing!! We went out to eat one time when my son was fresh out of the hospital, and the girls were 18 months. She waited until THE VERY END to order a cup of Greek coffee, which she then told me she couldn't get to go becuase it had the grounds still in it..... I could have shot her, cuz by then the girls were running circles around the restuarant, I wasn't moving very fast since I had just had a c-section (we literally left the hospital THAT day and went out to eat) and poor DH was ragged trying to keep up with the girls, and no one else was helping him (His brother, SIL, my MIL)... We don't take my MIL out to eat anymore when she visits for this very reason.. HER loss, we pay every time! LoL

    Such funny stories!

I'm also a "scarfer"... I look forward to savouring long, delicious meals again someday.

I'm the same way. And not only do I eat fast, but I'm also literally starving by the time I can actually sit down to eat. Last night, I met up with some friends at a wine bar. I ordered a cheese plate for everyone to split and kept finding myself grabbing bits of cheese and sausage like I hadn't eaten in days...ugh, it was SO embarrassing (thank goodness for understanding friends). I try to slow down but really with four kids, it's impossible some days...

My name is Amy, and Im a scarfer!

Next verse, same as the first. I have to hurry up and eat because Im tending to the kids every need..and then if I wait until they are almost finished, I have to hurry up, so we can clean up and move on to the next thing. It never ends.
I actually have an hour lunch break at work, and Im still finished eating in 10 minutes or less. (and thats if Im distracted!) :spy:

Add me to the list. :wavey: The only time I "really" eat is when they are sleeping. My one son will watch every move I make in the kitchen and if he see's me eating anything I have to share. Since eating a bowl of cereal by myself is impossible, I eat Zone bars, but now he wants those too. I find myself eating the entire bar in 3 bites all while trying to hide my chewing.

Same goes with anything in a cup. We could all be drinking milk, but they want my milk, in my cup.

This is hilarious...I hide too. I grab something and then run to my room or turn my back hoping that they won't see me eat it. Then when I bend down to talk to them I swear they act like some kind of animal sniffing my breath saying, "what you eat, mommy?" Then I'm caught! My gosh, what have our kids turned us in to??
